This Independence Day, the VFW calls upon all Americans to pause and reflect on the profound origins and ongoing significance of our nation as we celebrate a historic 250 years of freedom and democracy.

The Veterans Affairs Schedule for Rating Disabilities is intended to reflect medical evidence, functional impairment, and scientific expertise, not serve as a budgetary offset. https://t.co/pgKko1tTWB #VFW#Veterans#HonorTheContract#VeteranAdvocacy
🚨Action Alert
Today’s vote on the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act didn’t move forward, but the stakes for veterans remain.
Continue contacting members of Congress and tell them to back off veterans’ earned benefits and Honor the Contract: https://t.co/CeC7052N42

Disability ratings are not supposed to be budgetary tools. They are part of the nation’s commitment to compensate veterans for injuries incurred in service to their country. When Congress alters ratings to fund other priorities, it transforms what should be an evidence-based medical determination into a political calculation. https://t.co/xTDaoSxbFj #VFW #Veterans #VeteranAdvocacy #HonorTheContract #VeteranBenefits
“The VFW strongly opposes the Take Care of America's Veterans Act as currently drafted because it asks future disabled veterans to bear the cost of expanding benefits through changing the VA rating schedule for tinnitus and obstructive sleep apnea which are common conditions associated with combat poly trauma. We have long maintained that veterans' benefits are an earned obligation of the nation, a promise made through the military service contract, and should not be financed through offsets, fee increases or reductions that place additional burdens on veterans, military families and survivors.” - VFW National Commander Carol Whitmore https://t.co/TYgxsjmPEC #VFW #HonorTheContract
‼️ Action Alert‼️
Congress is considering legislation that would expand some veterans' programs by changing disability ratings for tinnitus and obstructive sleep apnea.
According to VA estimates, those changes could affect up to 1.5 million veterans and reduce disability compensation by approximately $57 billion over the next 10 years.
Veterans should not pay for veterans' benefits.
Take action today and tell Congress to Honor the Contract and protect earned disability compensation: https://t.co/CeC7052N42

Mat Best - Folded Flag (Official Music Video)
This song was written for the men and women who stepped into the fire for this country and never made it home, and for the families, friends, and brothers left carrying their memory forward.
Memorial Day isn’t just a long weekend. Behind every folded flag is a name, a story, and a sacrifice that built the freedom we live in every day.
This song proudly supports the Major Brent Taylor Foundation and the Gold Star families it supports.
#ICYMI Voice of Democracy state winners and the Patriot’s Pen national winner were honored with a special trip to @foundingforward at Valley Forge. During the four-day immersive experience, students explored America’s founding ideals through hands-on learning, historic tours, and leadership activities—deepening their understanding of freedom, democracy, and civic responsibility.
Here's a report on my meeting with Sec Collins from the VA. Please watch, then repost. We are asking The Secretary for VHA 1005 to be reinstated and expanded to cover mental health medications.
🚀 Don’t miss it! This Saturday, April 11, the VFW wraps up its 79th Voice of Democracy & Patriot’s Pen competitions with the Parade of Winners at the historic Union League of Philadelphia. 🇺🇸

This evening we paid tribute to the 1932 Bonus Expeditionary Force — veterans who marched on Washington, seeking the promises America made to them in exchange for their service. In their footsteps, we again call on law makers to Honor the Contract.

“Without the scholarship, I couldn’t afford even one class. It provides relief while achieving my educational goals by giving me an opportunity to catch my breath.” - A student veteran who shares how the VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” program provided her essential relief from the 'revolving door of poverty' during college https://t.co/pX41FxNwGD

“The VA’s response to the well-articulated concerns raised by so many has been dismissive and unacceptable. Disabled veterans should never be forced to choose between following their doctor’s orders and protecting their earned benefits. This interim rule puts that stability at risk, and it must be withdrawn.” - VFW National Commander Carol Whitmore https://t.co/isa7k6Ts7U
