Last week, our school team participated in the Whitehorse District Cross Country event at Ruffey Park Lake. Five students advanced to the next round, held today. Congratulations to all who participated and represented our school with pride!🏅

Our Junior students were buzzing with excitement as they explored the wonders of bees, including honey, wax, and honeycomb. During this special incursion, each Year P-4 student made a beeswax wrap to take home and use in their lunchbox, helping to eliminate cling wrap.

National Reconciliation Week falls from May 27- June 3. It about building good relationships with everyone in Australia, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It's a reminder that we all need to work together to respect each other's cultures and histories.

Our Prep - Year 2 students took part in a Responsible Pet Ownership Incursion. This program teaches children about living safely with dogs and responsible pet ownership. Pet educators and their dogs visit schools in Victoria annually to share these essential safety messages.

On May 16th, we celebrated our incredible Learning Support Officer Team. We're fortunate to have a creative and hardworking group supporting our students. With a dedicated LSO in each classroom, we provide extensive support to all students.

Our students in Prep are learning about Coding and Cyber Safety in their weekly Digital Technology lessons. They used an app, Animal Safari, to help the animals get their way around safely. They know how to log in, using their passwords and ask an adult for help.

Thanks to our school leaders for their excellent presentations for prospective families. They captivated the audience, sharing their passion and expertise in Wellbeing, Maths, Literacy, and Digital Technology. The event was well attended and left everyone thoroughly engaged.

On 25th March we celebrated Harmony Day at St John's. We learnt about many different countries, cultures, traditions and food. A highlight was experiencing African Drumming with Simon and Fred. We all attended a workshop to learn the drumming and to practice some dancing.

Term 2 is set to be an exciting one, with many big events planned, including Grandparents Day, First Eucharist Celebrations, Mother's Day Breakfast and the Family Bush Dance. They are all looking very smart in their Winter Uniforms.

St John’s choir will sing at Mitcham ANZAC Day Dawn Service on April 25 at Halliday Park memorial, Mitcham Rd, at 6.00am. Your support is appreciated as we honor those who served and fell. All are welcome. Lest we forget.
