This will be the first time in history that an F-unit locomotive has been restored to operation in VIA colours.

The VHA is excited to announce our first major fundraising campaign. We are purchasing and restoring VIA Rail Canada FP9A locomotive 6539 (later numbered 6303) to lead our 2028 VIA 50th Anniversary heritage train!
You may have seen one zooming by, or you may have even in ridden one! Our brand-new trains are officially in service in the Corridor. With a total of 32 trainsets to be delivered, they are part of a more sustainable future in Canada.
Built in in the early 2000s, our P42 locomotives have been serving Canadians for more than two decades and still going strong! Boasting a whopping 4,250 horsepower and a top speed of 160 km/h, these were our most energy-efficient locomotives until the arrival of our new fleet. 🍃
Spadina was very busy when John Mech captured this photo in June 1984. This area of downtown Toronto looks very different today. Courtesy Kaluza-Mueller Collection.
VIA Rail's short-lived "Bras d'Or" train ran Halifax to Sydney, NS in the summers of 2000-2004. Using the idle equipment from the "off day" of 6 day/week "Ocean", travelers rolled to Truro (seen here) then across Cape Breton to Sydney & back. Taken 2003/10/14 by Glenn Courtney.
VIA Rail's "Canadian" passes through a beautiful country. Here it is, somewhere in Ontario, photographed by David McCormack @davidmccphoto in November 2021.
Minister @OmarAlghabra and @VIA_Rail CEO Mario Peloquin were joined by members of the VIA board and the team from project contractor @ButtconLimited to symbolically break ground on the rebuilding of Toronto Maintenance Centre to support VIA’s new corridor fleet. 👏👏👏
VIA Rail is delighted to announce the arrival of Mario Peloquin as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.
His leadership will allow us to continue fulfilling our mission of providing our passengers with the most enjoyable travel experience.
Terry Johnson, one of the VHA's directors, was hard at work inside our 6133 RDC this week doing restoration work. Here's an outside photo and a closeup of his work.
@CarRelianceBC @MrBNSFtrain When the F40s were rebuilt, a new genset was added to provide head end power (HEP). This required the hood to be extended and that didn't leave room for a rear platform.
Sometimes you will see a CN or CP locomotive helping VIA out. It's not often you see the reverse! In 2013, a derailment in CN's Transcona yard trapped the VIA Rail Canadian on the east side of Winnipeg, and left the highway blocked with containers. (1/2)
cont'd The VIA crew detached the lead locomotive #6446 from VIA 2 and helped CN out by pulling a long string of containers east to clear the crossings. Maybe the VHA should add a container flat to their collection?

We're doing some cleaning in one of our RDCs, ex VIA 6215. One of our volunteers, Brian, shared some photos of the work he's doing.
