@SiawashBaktash is emerging as a powerful voice for Afg women and girls, advocating for the recognition of gender apartheid from Brussels to Geneva. His work reminds us that the fight for equality and human dignity championed by Martin Luther King continues in every generation.

@HabibKhanT This dance is a cherished southern tradition, but since other regions have their own traditions, calling it a “national dance” might not reflect that diversity. It’s beautiful as a regional tradition
“Secondly, an education in Persian civilization, which has produced so many poets, scholars, thinkers, and philosophers. A civilization that believes in moderation, pluralism, rationalism, and that contributed to spreading humanist ideas well before the concepts of human rights.
These concepts are evident in our history. Such as the Persian Empire, the first great empire of antiquity, freed the Jews from their Babylonian captivity and allowed all subjects to practice their religion and customs freely. The Cyrus Cylinder of Cyrus the Great, the founder and first ruler of the Achaemenid Empire, the first Persian "king of kings" to reign in the sixth century BC, is considered the first declaration of human rights. Part of Asia is under its influence, and the world has benefited from its philosophy and science. The majority of Islam's scientists, scholars and clerics come from it. I am proud and honored to belong to this very rich civilization…”

Imagine giving birth to a child — in #Afghanistan. Your son is sent to a madrassah, your daughter banned from school & silenced. Both suffering under #genderapartheid.
We can’t turn our backs on them. Here’s what we need to do (1/2):
