Just back from a trip to the Dordogne - some great birds seen - Black Winged Kite, Short Toed Eagle, Booted Eagle, Red Backed Shrike and Turtle Dove. A number of fritillaries (Weever’s and Queen of Spain )seen and the best butterfly was the endangered False Ringlet (photo below).
The trees are SAVED!
THANK YOU to everyone who bothered to speak out to save the three magnificent beech trees at Guildford Golf Club. A Tree Preservation Order has been issued on the beeches along the path. Great work by our councillors, the Tree Officer and GBC colleagues.
Guildford Golf Club is planning to fell these gorgeous, huge, healthy beech trees next Monday. Why? Apparently they may fall on the clubhouse and folk sitting below risk being hit by bird poo. The trees and clubhouse are in the Surrey Hills AONB, a nationally protected landscape.
WE WON!! Thrilled to announce that last night we won the @TheCCoalition's Innovative UK Community Project award 😊🎉
A HUGE thanks to all our volunteers, our partners, the CC, and all the amazing folks & orgs at last night's awards at Parliament

Omid, the last surviving Siberian Crane in the Western population met Roya, his companion introduced from a breeding program in Belgium. This is the first time Omid has seen a member of his species since 2009. When they saw each other they began to display and sing.
We are dismayed, disappointed, and deeply concerned. UK Gov has just approved the use of a banned pesticide so powerful; a single teaspoon could kill 1.25 billion bees. This is a huge mistake. If we want to #DefendNature we must #SayNoToNeonics. 👉

I Didnt know the French Army wore hats like this, If anyone knows different please comment below.
Enhanced and colourised.
Hi @LushLtd, why on Earth are you growing and selling carnivorous plants in peat, and claiming it’s peat-free cork waste and recycled glass? Disappointed to say the least…
Here in the UK we live in one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. Nature is in crisis and urgent action must be taken to protect our environment, including butterflies, moths and their habitats. ⚠️🧵 (1/5)
