Everything I ever wanted in life, I got it, or at minimum, I’ve experienced it. Some things I worked incredibly hard for, other things fell into my lap.
I don’t think anything is out of reach for me.
I don’t think anything is impossible.
I don’t have a scarcity mindset at all.
I struggle with grown women who still move like it's high school. We are not teenagers anymore. We are women with responsibilities. With scars. With stories no one sees. Life has already been hard on most of us. So why add to it?
If you are still gossiping, tearing someone down, or competing over things that do not matter, that is not strength. It is insecurity asking for attention. Real strength looks different. It looks like clapping when another woman wins. It looks like staying silent instead of spreading rumors.
It looks like doing your inner work instead of proiecting your pain.
Strong women do not need to compete for space. They create space. They support. They encourage. They show up. We have all fought battles people know nothing about. Let's not become another battle for each other. Let's be the reason another woman feels safe, valued, and seen.
What I’m about to say is not about Keisha, and more about my point, b/c I don’t know what she enjoyed or didn’t - but socialite aspects vs. the actual gig is an interesting take, with truth. A layered conversation.
One thing I noticed about Keisha Lance Bottoms when she was Mayor for those 4 years is that she didn't enjoy the job. She enjoyed the socialite aspects of the gig but not the digging deep to solve pressing challenges part of the gig. This is why the Gov run is so puzzling lol.
My Mom and I had a conversation as it relates to the desires of my heart. She really put it into perspective for me, little does she know. She’s my hero, my inspiration.
It would be audacious of me to not, when God blessed me with her as a Mother.
Love her.
“God shows favor to the ones who delight in, connect with, and give honor to Him. Isaiah 66:2 says, “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.”
Favor.
