Excellent post on Devin. Completely agree @vjsinsights! As software developers and freelancers, writing code is just one part of the job and perhaps the easiest one if you have figured out the approach and faced the other challenges that come with building complex projects!

3 reasons why I think Devin is NOT going to take ALL dev jobs (yet)
1. Why behind the how - Generating working code is only a part of the responsibility. Troubleshooting prod issues, non straightforward errors, trade off decisions, security, compliance will still need some manual oversight.
2. Problem Solving - Innovative solutions, what approach to take to solve a given business problem will need some human involvement. Implementation or execution of that approach could be done by AI.
3. Strategic thinking, Prioritization - It's not just a manager's job. Devs are responsible for overall code health, tech debt, direction of the tech stack etc.
Yes, if you are someone who *just* writes code, you need to start thinking differently.
Learn, adapt, succeed.
More importantly, the way software developers perform when faced with production failures or when clients are facing issues is unmatchable. Great software engineers are often the people who take accountability and are always there to provide creative solutions in case of crisis!
