@KVanValkenburg Kev, just fyi, talksport in England is the equivalent of Bryson DeChambeau and Luke Elvy hosting a podcast together. You lose cognitive function the more you listen.
@LinksGems@SnobbyScheffler Royal Melbourne has to be an equally strong shout. True 12 month golf, at least 8 months of that being firm and fast, and two of the top 100 courses on earth, inc. one in the top 10. Oh and Melbourne is just about the world’s best city to live in.
@kyle_shoren@thwacknicklaus My point is that they were the best then. Just like the guys are the best now. Isn’t it likely that 60 years ago, people were arguing that Nicklaus etc wouldnt have coped with inferior equipment that Hagen, Jones and Sarazen had to use?
@thwacknicklaus@mikeclaytongolf It’s all a moot point. Everything is relative. The best players from today would find a way with old equipment, just as the great players from the 60s would find a way with modern equipment. Skill is transferable because part of said skill is adjusting to the equipment you have.
@YettyGolf I think (imo) the difference between the two is more about personal preference and vibe more than anything, and neither answer is categorically wrong
I can see why some people (myself inc) concede that while west is the better golf course, they still prefer KH.
@KylePorterNS Kyle at what point do stats cease to matter? Isn’t there a case to be made that a (small) portion of the team should be picked on gut? Stats didnt help the world number 1 and current PGA champion from being demolished 9&7 in Rome.
