Covid metrics in Ontario continue to fall.
A bellwether is infant cases; there was 1. This ties the record low set three times in 2020; we haven't been there since.
This is the closest we have to an *immune naive* population.
In 12-19s, we haven't seen a case in two weeks.
@Fitz2792 I do not think basic prompting is enough but I also never want to discourage that curiosity in others.
Simple prompts are the *starting point* to AI art.
Feed is full of silly people saying automation negates art or something again.
Well as someone that's organized concerts and music festivals in a video game for well over a decade I know that's bunk.
What matters is who holds the creative process and that's still me. AI or not.
It's super annoying that the argument most people make against AI artists is that they're not "real artists". Because that's quite the wide brush ain't it.
Many of the people prompting with AI certainly are not. But a whole lot of people with brushes aren't either and it shows.
@Fitz2792 It's a nice image of an apple. But is it *your* apple? The one you imagined or wanted.
Only you can decide when it's right; when it's finished; when it says what you want it to say. That is my distinction. Artists choose that and stubbornly so regardless of their tools/medium.
@kyleshannon@Scobleizer@Diesol@mexopolis I will say in my experience it does not get me anywhere near 80% of the way. ChatGPT and I have had some pretty epic fights... ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
@kyleshannon@Scobleizer@Diesol@mexopolis Or even creative amateurs. I only have about seven of those boxes and most of them I had to develop myself.
Half of being an artist is being stubbornly unsatisfied with what's available. You modify your tools or build new ones until they do what you want.
Covid deaths in the USA per CDC Wonder appear to be reaching new lows. The official (provisional) count is 27. We know that'll go up.
But even accounting for reporting lag it would seem to be a bit under 0.1% of all weekly deaths for the first time in more than six years.
I don't like em dashes.
Not conceptually; I don't care. Not because they're a sign of AI; I don't care.
I don't like them because you can just use two hyphens and stay in 7-bit ASCII like a normal person. Or let some rendering layer sort that later if you really want.
@dummybrainy@MichaelSFuhrer He's also conflating cases and (estimated) infections. Anthony Fauci spoke of cases at the time. These are very different things.
