Relationships strengthen with direct communication. Relationships weaken when either party fears direct communication. This is a lesson I see many founders struggle with -- especially with their co-founders, early employees, and first execs. In the best working relationships, each party not only communicates directly but encourages direct communication from the people they work with. PS: direct communication doesn't mean being an asshole. You can be kind/compassionate but still direct.

Not enough adults are understanding that they have to create moments of happiness in their lives. Find things to be excited about. Create plans to look forward to. Decorate the house during holidays. Make a playlist you only listen to on Tuesdays. Keep your favorite snacks stocked in case of a bad day. You have more control over your joy than you think.
