The Oxfordshire village of Piddington has voted to leave the UK over plans for asylum seekers to be housed in a nearby former MoD site.

The vote saw 91% of villagers vote to leave, and a sign reading "Principality of Piddington" erected.

However, the referendum was a symbolic one, meaning the village won't actually leave the United Kingdom.

Thank you @MrHarryCole for coming to our humble, quaint, plucky little village of Piddington and bringing light to the dark!

When I realise the enormity and significance of what we have stirred in this great country of ours, it brings me to think how completely corrupt the political system is.

Denial of access to true crime statistics like they have in Europe.

“Security Vetting” quoting the use of biometric data and database checking to determine risk of individuals not in the system until the day they arrive here in the UK. Do the government think we are stupid?

Why have all the Labour MPs sat in silence complicit to the fact they know the risk to women and children is greater than they would accept themselves. What control do they operate under where the constituents who elected them have less power over them than the government mechanism who has now consumed their oxygen to breathe and speak out?

When an MP knows that government action is causing serious and disproportionate harm to their constituents, yet remains silent to protect the party line, that is not representation, it is political complicity and a dereliction of democratic responsibility.
