Friends, Jesus says, “Fear no one.” If finitude in awareness is anxiety—and it is—and ruthless people know how to use our fears to manipulate us, how do we avoid being afraid?
It is possible if and only if you go through something like a “metanoia.” “Meta” means “beyond”; “nous” means “mind.” Therefore, “metanoia” means to go beyond the mind you have, to change your way of thinking and seeing—to change the fundamental attitude of your life.
What if you were to undergo a metanoia, and the center of your life became not your body and its preoccupation but the soul?
Friends, there are many worldly goods—one’s life, one’s parents, one’s children—but there’s a good beyond these that must be the focus of the soul. How do we cleanse and purify our souls so that the “summum bonum,” the highest good, might truly be first?
Detachment.
This doesn’t mean we hate the things of the world or that we hate our family. It means we are sufficiently detached from those relatively lower goods that we might be completely attached to God alone.
She can drive, she just gets tired. Not having to drive herself makes her less tired.
What kills people is your sponsored videos promoting inferior technologies like Ford Blue Cruise. Remember how you took money from them to help cover up two deaths? @ZacksJerryRig?
@Francess_FIC@FBN_help Lol, they've resorted to taking the money directly without needing an unsuccessful transaction to hide behind.
They're growing more liver to do bad things
For those that won't take the time to watch Mamdani's speech, just know he also took a direct shot at Elon:
"We see a city of contradictions within a nation of contradictions. We see the wealthiest country in the history of the world, one where children go to sleep hungry while the world's first trillionaire hungers for more."
This is clearly designed to get people to dislike Elon and think he's bad for America which is the height of stupidity. Life is NOT a zero-sum game. Elon's wealth creation (mostly tied up in his companies, btw) is in NO WAY the reason we have pockets of food insecurity or wealth inequality
Elon has directly and indirectly created industries that have provided for millions of families and raised living standards for many more. Elon's "hunger for more" is actually more ambition directed at solving hard technical problems to make our world a better, safer place and to make life multiplanetary to preserve the light of consciousness, creating millions of jobs through multiple tiers of the supply chains
America was built by capitalist institutions and incentives - credible property rights, low barriers to productive activity, reliable contract enforcement and a culture that supports achievement through voluntary means
I'd also add that the US already redistributes enormous resources and despite this, food insecurity rates have not gone to zero
Mamdani is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Elon said it best, if Mamdani's policies are put into place at scale, it will be a catastrophic decline in living standards for everyone
Charlie Kirk never got to see America’s 250th birthday.
So, in his honor, watch him shut down the typical liberal “stolen land” argument.
A college student confronts Kirk and says Americans are living on “stolen land” taken from the Mexicans.
Kirk asks who the Mexicans stole it from, then expertly turns his own words against him.
By the end, everyone is cheering for America. Watch how this one plays out.
STUDENT: “I want to acknowledge the fact that we are right now on stolen land and that we are on indigenous land and that we are on original Mexican land right now.”
KIRK: “I love this stolen land argument.”
STUDENT: “…I really make it a point to notice that I’m on stolen land at all times, especially when we think about things like Manifest Destiny.”
KIRK: “Who did the Mexicans steal the land from?”
STUDENT: “Actually, the Mexicans were there originally in Texas…”
KIRK: “Wrong. They stole it from lots of Indian tribes… Texas was not indigenously Mexican… there was the Cherokee. There were many different Native American tribes there. So Mexico was participating in Manifest Destiny at the behest of the Spanish crown.”
[Student acknowledges Kirk is right]
KIRK: “At some point, you have to believe in self-determination. If you can win the land, it’s yours. That is what built the West.”
STUDENT: “I can agree with that.”
KIRK: “So instead of a land acknowledgement… you should have a gratitude acknowledgement. ‘Praise God, I live in America! I’m glad!’ A gratitude acknowledgement would be nice.”
[Crowd erupts]
Charlie would have loved to experience America’s 250th birthday more than anyone.
He defended America on campuses exactly like this one until the day he died. The least we can do is carry his message forward.
Rest in Peace, Legend.
Dear America,
On this, your 250th birthday, we celebrate the audacious experiment that still sets you apart from every nation that has ever been: a republic built on ordered liberty, where free men and women consent to be governed yet refuse to be ruled.
You alone dared to declare that rights come not from kings or majorities but from the Creator, and that government exists to secure them, not dispense them.
You are the superlative nation - greatest in scale and spirit, unmatched in your restless vitality. How unique is your wild, irreverent confidence that turns impossible dreams into towering realities? Where else does such extravagant abundance flow - not merely of wealth, but of opportunity, reinvention, and second chances? And what land has ever matched your extreme self-confidence, that bold, almost reckless conviction that tomorrow can always be made better, bigger, freer?
To so many of us born elsewhere, you remain the lone and steadfast beacon whose light still pierces the gathering darkness. Your strength and spirit sustain not only your own shores but every heart around the world that yearns for freedom, dignity and self-determination.
Guard your rare and precious character, for in them lies the secret of your enduring greatness. We need you now more than ever.
Wishing all Americans a happy Independence Day! And may God bless the United States of America 🇺🇸
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
She literally said gay people have absolutely lost rights under Trump.
Then when asked what rights have been lost, she realized she had no clue what she’s talking about.
This is what the left does. They say all of these factually incorrect things and hype each other up without even taking the time to ask if it’s true and or what makes it true..
@NickKristof@elonmusk Many, like how many?
Give the figure, your fellows can't say over 4 million children died and you name less than 5 people for which there's no proof that there's a connection between the aid cuts and their deaths.
Stop gaslighting people, America still provides aid
