📢 The @WorldBank slammed for funding gas extraction and fracking❗

It's time for energy which serves communities and not elites. ✊

🔃 RT to call for a fast, fair transition to renewables before it's too late #GasIsNotGreen

[The Big Shift Global @bigshiftglobal]

❗️Fossil fuel projects backed by @WorldBank - past & present - have caused irreversible harm to the health & livelihoods of local communities.

Their voices have gone unheard. Until now.

We sent journalists to 🇦🇷Argentina🇪🇬 Egypt🇮🇩Indonesia. Please RT🔁https://t.co/F4cp46Bohb

THEY LIED!

The last pretence that this govt gives a hoot about the environment finally blown asunder.

Greenest govt ever? Lie. Not lower enviro standards? Lie.
Leave rivers in a better state? Lie. All of it, lies.

NOTE: You cannot offset a dead river.

@CPhilpOfficial Why are you proud of this? You've made everyone but rich people poorer at the same time as destroying public services.👏👏👏 Other countries didn't have to spend so much on sorting out energy because they used windfall taxes

@RoseStokes I left 4 weeks before due date as needed to do stuff to the house and also wanted time to chill. Ended up being right call as he turned up 2 weeks early! Good luck ✨

@conversiontales Helen Dunmore's The Siege is full of savage passages on the cold & hunger of winter. That one where Anna's fighting other survivors for chunks of wood in a burned building, or descriptions of slowly losing her mind to starvation; "those snow devils are dancing again." Cheery!

@Samfr Daphne Du Maurier's short fiction is fantastic too - she could try Don't Look Now & Other Stories

[Vicky Welstead @Vicky_Welstead]

@Samfr I loved Joan Aiken, Rosemary Sutcliffe & Robin Jarvis at her age. Jane Eyre is a great way into the classics, esp. as the first chapters follow Jane as a child. And if she gets into the Brontes then Edith Wharton is an easier and more satisfyingly dramatic next step than Austen.

@carolynharris24 And what about the chances Boris and Rishi were both selected at random for this trial? Such lucky lads 🤔🤥

[Vicky Welstead @Vicky_Welstead]

@guardiannews Can @BorisJohnson tell me why my son & thousands of others are missing the end of the school year then? Looking forward to his speech to all the teachers, doctors & essential workers he thinks have less important jobs than him. #oneruleforthem
