I’m also proud to have secured Newsbeat bylines across the BBC for the team and I, and pushed their journalism to other outlets.
But I miss broadcasting - so I’m excited for my new chapter 👀

Yesterday was my last day as a Senior Journalist Reporter for BBC Radio 1, 1xtra and Asian Network’s Newsbeat! I started 9 months ago - in a new way of working, a new role, a new title, at a new team, working on new output, for new radio stations, in a completely new location.
I’m incredibly proud to have been in charge of such a prestigious and impressive news beast that is Newsbeat when huge global events occurred like the Iran war, Iranian protests, Venezuela, Bondi shooting - the list goes on.
So excited to see Newsbeat’s journalism being picked up by different places in the BBC and I’m so proud when I manage to get them a byline!
It’s a privilege to continue to grow in this role alongside them 🤓

I can’t believe its been over 5 months working at BBC Radio 1, 1xtra and Asian Network’s Newsbeat! 🎙️📻
I want to share some #weekendwins and #studioselfies from both the Mailbox in Birmingham and Media City in Salford.
I’m back freelancing with the Radio Manchester team - yesterday I was reading the news and today I am out and about reporting!
Here’s an article I wrote for them the other week when I was reporting for them: https://t.co/JNLFFntlAT

Other moments I’ve reported on for BBC England over the last few months are the ceasefire agreement, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor losing his titles and the synagogue attack on the 2nd of October.
What a day to read the news last night for all 39 BBC local radio stations! It was a privilege to broadcast on such a big news story like the budget for across the country.

reading the news, broadcasting the trafffic, presenting commercial radio programmes - and overseeing weekends on Newsbeat. My key tips were: don’t let anyone put you in a box, network, say yes to all and any opportunities and if there is no opportunity, just do it yourself!
(I even bought and read his book!) Proud to be a part of the fab panel sharing my experiences of investigative journalism, presenting and producing World Service programmes, reporting for radio, TV and online in regions, making documentaries…
It was an absolute privilege to be part of a media panel yesterday at the University I fell in love with media at, The University of Manchester. I remember when I was a student there and I attended a similar event, meeting an investigative journalist…
Such a privilege overseeing news bulletins for Newsbeat on Saturday and Sunday for a busy bank holiday weekend - especially BBC 1Xtra over Carnival weekend!💃Yesterday I made my on air bulletin debut for Newsbeat on BBC Radio 1 & BBC Asian Network afternoon bulletins with (1/2)
a few cheeky voice pieces in the news (1xtra had a Carnival special) 🎤 In the pandemic I made a report for a Newsbeat programme so it wasn’t fully my first time on Newsbeat, but it hits different when you are introduced as ‘Newsbeat’s Vicky Carter’ 📻 #broadcaster#reporter
Are you a personality hire?
We hear from companies looking to recruit extroverts, saying they add value.

Yesterday marked my first working week in my new way of working!
I spent the weekend shadowing and overseeing Newsbeat bulletins and then 3 days reading the news for BBC Radio Manchester.
