LACSON: CHIZ ESCUDERO MAY BE ELECTED IMPEACHMENT COURT PRESIDING OFFICER

JUST IN: Sen. Ping Lacson revealed that Sen. Chiz Escudero may be elected as the impeachment court presiding officer.

“As per our consensus as of this morning, we will elect Senator Chiz Escudero – if we convene again as the Impeachment Court – to be the presiding officer,” Lacson said on Wednesday, June 17.

Lacson explained that Escudero is a lawyer and that he has experience with impeachment processes.

“Yun ang consensus namin as of this morning, pwede magbago. Si Senator Win [Gatchalian] mismo ang nag-suggest nito,” Lacson clarified.

The impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte will begin on July 6.
