Amazing to see how puffed up some of these little guys get. He looks like he might just pop!
A Short-footed Frog (Cyclorana brevipes) calling after heavy rains around #Biloela in Central QLD yesterday.
Recorded for @FrogIDAus 🐸
A pair of Ornate Burrowing #Frogs (Platyplectrum ornatum) laying spawn!
The female whacks her little arms around like that to make air bubbles. These bubbles form the ‘foam nest’ that holds the eggs - you can see them forming on her nose! 🐸

@drewdleville @FrogIDAus It looks like it doesn’t it! The female frogs do this with their front legs while laying eggs, to “whip up” a foamy nest! The eggs float in this bubbly nest on the surface of the water before they’re ready to start swimming.
I’ve never seen such a frenzy of Ornate Burrowing #Frogs!!!
Pairs laying everywhere, and opportunistic males calling between them. They were all barging each other around!

The frogs finally came out for #FrogIDWeek… Just in the nick of time!!
A huge storm last night excited the frogs in my area. So lovely to see (and hear!!) so many healthy happy Green Tree Frogs.
Recorded for @FrogIDAus of course 💚🐸

Well it’s dry with me atm, so not much action for #FrogIDWeek!

To a humiliating (but helpful) extent, some of the gravest problems we face during a day can be traced back to a brutally simple fact: that we have not had enough sleep.

The first view of a Wrinkled Toadlet (Uperoleia rugosa) I was trying to find.
Upes look like little pebbles, and they sound like it too. If you hear a weird clicking coming from the grass, it might be one of these guys! #FrogID
