Promoting safe sidewalks in Victoria BC. You can use the Connect Victoria app to upload images and notify the city about sidewalk obstructions and issues.
Heya @CityOfVictoria, Forward Auto has a huge parking lot but they store their dumpster on the sidewalk, like, it is always there. Could you follow up with them and with GFL?
Empty truck parked across the entire sidewalk in #yyj. Literally parked on the sidewalk, what a tool. Also lol that the driver could have parked in the free parkade that is RIGHT THERE but parked on the whole ass sidewalk instead.
The obsession with huge vehicles — which are much more dangerous — is now leaking into electric vehicles.
Like huge gas vehicles, huge EVs are also more dangerous, less efficient & more polluting.
We need incentives to move away from these mega vehicles. https://t.co/WwQvEdFWLr
If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via @thediscourse study.
This isn’t just about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice.

Serious pet peeve: Drivers who continue to roll forward while “stopped” for a cyclist to pass in front of the car. Don’t do this!! It’s nerve wracking at best, terrifying at worst. It feels like you’re about to run us down. Slow your roll (to a stop)!
Last night I witnessed a pedestrian very nearly get killed in the (lit) crosswalk in front of the Belleville restaurant. I slowed down on my bike so he could cross, and a car came speeding up, completely oblivious. I screamed my head off instinctively 1/
VicPD intentionally hitting people with police cars again. When a VicPD officer did this in 2018, the OPCC said it constituted "abuse of authority." Per VicPD's policy they are (or should be) investigating this officer right now, but odds of any real consequences are near zero.
What will happen if we’ll RETHINK our street corners?
We'll realize that until now, we've made them too car-centric. Street corners are designed for fast driving, which means pedestrians have to risk their safety just to cross the street.
What percentage of licensed drivers driving around do you think:
1) actually know this is a legal unmarked crosswalk?
2) would actually stop for someone crossing here?
Cook & Sutlej, in case you’re wondering.
Camosun is closed tomorrow but my after class job isn't. Anyone have predictions on busses from Colwood to downtown/hillside tomorrow afternoon and back to Colwood in the eve?
