@__silent_@Emidextrous@__silent_ Speaking of other games - are you planning on making a patch for other Codies games? I'm mainly asking about the CMRs (1st, 04 and 2005), though patches for TOCAs would be welcomed too.
@xMBGx For those reasons I've left PC when Steam became pretty much the only way to buy games. When all the consoles become the same, I'm going to go through my backlog counting back to NES/Master System days and leave modern gaming altogether.
@xMBGx Personally, yes. They need to give us parity of rights between physical and digital world - easy sharing and reselling (even in environment controlled by Sony). Also they should make that ban doesn't mean losing all your games, just losing access to multi and buying new ones.
@Jarmanxp@DoesItPlay1 And as I've said, people can fight for both. Supporting two things at once isn't that hard of a concept, is it? Especially when those things aren't mutually exclusive.
Even game developers are not happy with you @Sony@PlayStation. You fucked up. You forgot PlayStation has always been a platform people went to for physical games and even used for watching their physical movies/shows on.
@RinoTheBouncer ACShadows proves that even quite significant demand for "half-physical" releases exists. Personally I value such releases as much as "real" ones, because I won't lose my game with an account ban or due to losing access to 2FA because my phone got stolen on vacations.
@gamerrr33@DoesItPlay1 Tell that to people who bought digital games for Wii or DS. All your purchases there are completely gone if you didn't back them up locally.
@satchmosax@Thandronen@DoesItPlay1 Technically speaking, even 0€ "purchases" are treated as such by PS - if you look deep enough in your inbox you might find a 0.00€ recipe for purchasing P.T. And the same goes for anything free - try it yourself get Genshin or whatever F2P game and you'll get a recipe for it.
@TheLuxNoctis@DoesItPlay1 Though RE9 is Q4 2025 (my preorder got cancelled and decided to not renew it/ buy RE9 until after I catch up with RE8 and RE4R)
Even while you never owned your disc in the first place, the fact you could hold it was to much for them. You shall own nothing and be happy, criminal scum! How the Industry Lied and Deceived; https://t.co/eOem2OJ0F1
It genuinely feels like we skipped to another timeline since July 1st, and everything since Sony’s announcement for ending physical games just ruined the taste of video games forever🚀
We were all so happy after Summer Games Week. Everything was so exciting, but now it’s like nothing feels the same anymore.
And it’s not just about CDs, it’s about Sony revealing its true face beyond all doubt.
The industry absolutely HATES gamers, and it couldn’t be more obvious, save for few true visionaries. The rest are just in it for the business aspect, with zero passion or integrity in them.
This $60 or $70 or $80 spent on games suddenly feels more expensive than spending $1000 on anything else, because it’s like paying to be lied to and disrespected.

I want to make something perfectly clear.
We as gamers, are currently amidst the most important battle of our time. The battle to preserve our games, our ownership and our rights as customers.
This battle is not one fought by the left, right, middle or any political or sociological group. It is fought by gamers, united against one gargantuan enemy with many heads. The Industry.
The Industry has the investors money, the tech, the cult followers and the massive income on their side. With that, they now want to dictate how gaming will be moving forward.
They DO NOT want us to own our games.
They DO NOT want us to be able to resell old games, or share them.
They DO NOT want us to have a physical full copy of a game, and be able to play it offline.
They WANT us to be locked in a perpetual rental agreement. To have to pay them whatever they demand. To hold the power to take it all away. To get our data and have us be constantly online to feed their algorithms.
The Industry uses the access media to pour the poisonous message, that our demands to own our games is bad. That we should accept the change and be good little consumer drones.
And herein lies the heart of it. They need us. Much more than we need them.
They need our money, subscriptions and constant dedication (Something they did have in the past, when they provided us with endless amount of quality products). Now, when they only care about the money and overspend on boring and tasteless games, they are desperate to break us into accepting perpetual subscription, so the money keeps flowing.
These companies think we cannot survive without them. The truth is, they cannot survive without us.
Ubisoft is the glowing example of this. People stopped buying the slop and they are now in financial ruin.
This is what happens when gamers have enough and say NO. We have the power to change and dictate what we want to spend our hard-earned money on. Not them. And the only way to show companies like Sony, Microsoft, EA and all others, who perpetuate rental enslavement, is to not give them anything.
Play your backlogs. Buy, download and burn games on CDs from GOG. Go for indie titles. The sea is vast and plenty of tasty fish is in it.

Since their announcement of ending physical media by January 2028, and Sony have been exposed and/or accused of various despicable behaviors🚀
✅Pretending physical media is obsolete in order to justify starting a monopoly, and ending second hand market and player ownership
✅Implementing regional pricing which will likely end up making games even more expensive
✅Depriving over %60 of countries in the world from video games, as more than %60 don’t have a dedicated PlayStation Store, and/or no reliable internet to experience games properly
✅Accused of engineering data that includes DLC, MTX and free to play/digital only games among the comparison of physical vs. digital to pretend that the demand for digital is much higher than it is
✅Accused of using bots to defend digital-only on social media
✅Lack of respect for fans by showing they’re above addressing players directly and that players will come along eventually and profits from digital only will compensate for those who leave
✅Reported to be tightly controlling their own employees regarding addressing anything to fans about physical media
✅Using their sick puppet media to disingenuously interpret unverified and engineered data to defend Sony’s move
Whether all of these turn out to be too true or not is yet to be seen, but Sony’s reputation is the lowest ever and the lack of communication is building up immense resentment towards them. Which is a far cry from how they used to be the darling of the industry.
This isn’t a smear campaign nor libel, nor a push for harassing studios, but you can’t treat gamers like children and expect them to spend like adults unquestioned.
You cannot put too many roadblocks in someone’s hobby and suck the soul out of it, and show total hubris, apathy and disrespect expect no reaction from dedicated supporters who have been there for 30 years

We've seen Alanah Pearce' comment about Sony putting out a gagging order on its employees. And it is very telling for what is going on!
First, we can say that it checks out with what we have heard from behind the scenes. Initially there were a lot of discussions about Sony's attack on physical media. Then, several days after the announcement the chats just went quiet over night. Nobody even reacted to the topic or things remotely connected to it anymore. Like they were all struck by a giant censorship hammer.
In our opinion, this clearly shows several things.
One, Sony desperately wants to control the narrative. They anticipated the backlash. They fear the backlash.
Subsequently, two, this proves that they don't have a leg to stand on. Their justification for the move to kill physical media and push everyone into an all-digital dystopia is not based on reality. The reason they gave is bogus. We already talked about this before when we looked at the numbers and explained that the bigger picture is much more than "consumer trends".
But the most important thing is, three, that they know killing physical media will literally hurt everyone in and around the games industry in some way. EVERBODY has a good reason to be angry and concerned. Retailers have already spoken up. Developers have already spoken up (not only because the backlash harms their marketing, but because it harms motivation, discoverability and an additional stream of revenue), preservationists have spoken up, media has spoken up, gamers have spoken up.
The only thing that carries Sony is a large part of the audience that hasn't gotten the message yet. But more and more do. Once a critical mass of casual gamers understand that Sony will exploit them even more for profit in the future, that this decision will come with severe downsides even for those who didn't care before, it can turn the tide.
This message control wouldn't be necessary, if their decision would be for the better. In that case, they could easily justify it in public. But they do the opposite. That's all you need to know to continue the backlash and make as many people as you can aware of the consequences.
@TheDonDolla91@hazaifus1@RinoTheBouncer You know, countries from European Union that are more prosperous than your sorry excuse of corpostate known as United States of America also don't have PiSStore.
@hazaifus1@RinoTheBouncer More so, AFAIK each time you buy a game from not your "real location" you risk getting banned and losing all the games you bought (according to Sony illegally). This is an unacceptable way to treat their costumers.
This gamer probably has the largest collection in history for Playstation with 12,000 games and he's calling it quit after Sony announced no more physical disc for PS6.
