Today in Brussels, I took part in what we wanted to be a frank, no-holds-barred exchange between the European Union and Israel, as part of the EU-Israel Association Council. On the fringes of this dialogue, I had a personal meeting with the Israeli Minister for Foreign Affairs, @Gideonsaar2. I reiterated my solidarity with the hostages and their families and recognised Israel's legitimate right to defend itself, while insisting on Belgium's very clear position: all parties to the conflict must strictly respect international humanitarian law and human rights. The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas must be implemented, to relieve the enormous suffering of civilians in Gaza and to allow the exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, while respecting their respective dignity. I also reiterated our support for UNRWA and listened to Israeli criticism of it, insisted on the two-state solution and expressed my concern about the settler violence and military operations in the West Bank. I also reiterated Belgium's attachment to the territorial integrity of Lebanon and Syria. Finally, I reiterated that the EU-Israel Association Agreement must be based on respect for democratic principles and human rights. This agreement offers many opportunities for beneficial cooperation, from which we wish to continue to benefit mutually. A long-term peaceful solution can only be achieved through frank and constructive political cooperation. @BelgiuminEU@BelgiumMFA@BelgiuminIsrael

She was born a woman. She is a woman. She has a condition. Do you really think Algeria - where LGBT people are criminalised with prison sentences up to 3 years and hefty fines - would send a trans woman to *officially* represent them?
Try to think next time.
