In an ever-expanding universe where the Earth occupies a central gravity well - the 6-days of creation recorded in Genesis are indeed literal days. However, gravity changes the behavior of time. Time acts differently depending on where you sit in the gravity well. It may be that the first few days of "morning-evening" were when the earth was deep inside the formless void of the gravity well where more time passes. Additionally, there was water everywhere - not empty space.

Here’s the scenario: hair gets washed, hair falls out, hair swirls drain and floats generally, hair is gathered up and swirled. Lady dries self and head with towel - eager to get dressed etc. while planning to discard hair loops that are now awkwardly out of reach now that she’s out of the shower.
