Every pre-dawn shoot starts with a venue/sunrise timelapse, time permitting. Always helpful to have as an establishing shot. I carry a tripod and an A7iv with me primarily just for venue and crowd timelapses.
TIL You Can See Everything was shot on an Angenieux 25-250mm lens to cover both wide and closeups on the fly.
Unfortunately for Sony shooters, there doesn’t seem to be any E-mount lens with the same range that also has constant aperture. Otherwise I’d strongly consider getting something like it.
more doc shooting at a farm in san diego this weekend. some random observations:
- lighting in greenhouses is great. they’re basically a giant piece of diffusion
- farms supplying fine dining restaurants have much higher margin on items like edible flowers and niche herbs
- there’s a wasabi arugula plant that tastes just like wasabi peas
- some herbs have a naturally salty taste (eg. Ice plant) that pair well with coastal dishes
I’d love to help. Here’s a launch video I made for <$5k and in 1-2 days. https://t.co/UXLi8vhB5L
With the budget and time constraints I wouldn’t be able to deliver custom motion design, but for startups that can tell their story via interview + b-roll (especially hardware/physical products) I think it’s very doable.
I have a newfound respect for reality tv/documentary productions after having been a small part of some complex shoots recently. Didn’t realize the depth of logistical pain that goes into making videos that on the surface look natural and effortless.
Scrolling through X and saw some footage I shot for Encord recently, where they had sign spinners promote the Long Horizon Summit.
If you’re a company running experiential marketing activations and not posting photos/videos about it, you’re leaving a lot of impressions/value on the table.
The Physical AI summit. Two days. 1,000+ curated leaders in Physical AI.
Join Waymo, DeepMind, Boston Dynamics, Skild, Agility, Saronic, Foundation, and so many more.
I’d love to make a documentary following a founder’s journey from the very early days to whatever outcome it leads to. Like Hoop Dreams but tech.
No cost to the founder, just their time, trust, and access.
Please dm me if that’s you!
@UnfinishedOwl the problem is that the people/companies hiring for these roles tend to be very conventional, and the people who are unconventional tend to not want to work at conventional places
shot a music video earlier this year and upon watching it on youtube, I saw that all the views and comments were clearly fake. now I notice the same type of accounts and comment structure everywhere on youtube.
here's an example I saw today where the botting glitched out lol
Shot this a few weeks ago for Axonnic. I originally wanted to shoot facing the giant window to show off the city view, but the rolling fog and angles made consistent lighting difficult.
Ended up framing them at a slant to get some window frontage while also getting some depth with diagonal lead lines.
If I were to do it again, I'd add more fill on the shadow side of the face and blur the background more, but happy with how it turned out given the constraints.
@ainativefirm The video has too much boring UI and the AI generated video feels low quality. Could have been much more engaging if she just talked to the camera.
i matched 12,000 launch videos against every rental listing in sf to find out where they were filmed
28 of them are the same building

Packed week of Dreamforce shoots. Today’s task is to turn a coworking basement into 4 different backdrops for a series of customer testimonials.
Using some RGB fill lights to transform the bland black/white walls into the client’s brand colors.
