@marklevinshow 1. cheap oil and, 2. no nukes.Β I thought it was: 1. no nukes, 2. no enriched uranium, 3. help is on the way for the Iranian people. is, What happened is beyond me.
but we're with you and Israel
I didn't know our objectives in the war against Iran are: 1. cheap oil and, 2. no nukes.Β I thought it was: 1. no nukes, 2. no enriched uranium, 3. help is on the way for the Iranian people.Β Of course, the Strait of Hormuz must remain international waters and open.Β But it was open before the war.Β It was never an objective for going to war.Β That said, given the Iranian regime's actions re the Strait, we obviously must confront them there and we are.Β But even there, we are not declaring that the Iranian regime mustn't control any aspect of the Strait, but that oil must be cheap.Β We are ratcheting down our war objectives, at least in the public statements of senior officials.
@philthatremains August 15, 1971 Nixon shocked the world and closed the gold window. That ended the Bretton Woods system where foreign governments could trade dollars for gold at $35 an ounce. , gold was allowed to float freely, and that's when the price really started climbing.
