On the ground people are feeling the pinch of inflation

Prices of rice, edible oil, dhall and groceries have gone up considerably in the last two years

People were buying rice for Rs 60 to 70 / kg last year are paying Rs 95 to 100 for the same quality and quantity.

There is palpable discontent, if the rot is not stemmed in time, effects will be seen in the ballot boxes.

Kindly take immediate steps to control prices of essential commodities

For all our outrage on garbage management, let me tell you my observations since a while.

In my coworking space located in a prominent tech park in Bengaluru, there is a food court where many employees come and eat. The bins there clearly mark where wasted food should be thrown and where the paper plates and glasses should be thrown.

And everyone can read.

Yet, everytime I go there, I see the rule being flouted by the so called educated IT professionals. The staff who do the cleaning keep pleading them to follow the segregation, to no avail.

Yesterday, I saw a guy in his late forties, dressed in a nice suit, flout the segregation rule. When the janitor lady reminded him, he said something disrespectful, thankfully, in a language she does not understand, and still put the food waste along with the plate in the dry waste bin. Seeing me looking sympathetic, she told me in Kannada that if people like us dont follow rules why she and her colleagues should sit segregating waste and that they will throw them as is in some dump.

When middle management, senior professionals behave this way, do we have the right to criticize the system, leaders, and politicians, be it of any party?
