He became District Collector of Namakkal in 2009.

The first thing he did was upload his personal assets on the district website.

Bank balance: Rs 7,172.

House in Madurai jointly owned with his wife: Rs 9 lakh.

That was everything he had after 18 years of government service.

He said this. The district collector should set an example of honesty for his subordinates.

He was the first IAS officer in Tamil Nadu to voluntarily publish his financial details.

In 2000 he found dirt floating in Pepsi bottles as Additional District Magistrate in Kanchipuram. He sealed the entire plant. Refused to back down despite pressure.

In 2004 he found restaurants in Chennai using subsidized domestic gas cylinders illegally. He confiscated 5,000 cylinders in three days.

In 2012 as District Collector of Madurai he investigated illegal granite quarrying. His report found losses to the state of at least Rs 16,000 crore. He named politicians and officials.

He was transferred four days after submitting the report.

That was transfer number 19.

In 2015 the High Court appointed him to probe a granite scam. He needed to exhume bodies as evidence. The police refused to help. He was worried evidence would be tampered with.

He spent the night alone in a graveyard.

In Namakkal 5,000 villagers once came out to protest when the government tried to transfer him. The transfer was withdrawn.

He was ultimately kept for six years in an insignificant post at Science City Chennai with nothing to do.

In 2021 he resigned voluntarily. Three years before retirement.

His office door had a sign throughout his entire career.

Reject bribes. Hold your head high.

TCS displayed a lackadaisical approach when the first complaints trickled in & effectively led a HR mounted cover up. The top leaders of TCS ought to be worried if this is the level of HR and corporate governance across the board in the company. Totally sub par.

Police sources say the company was more interested in ensuring that no bad press entailed instead of standing with the victims following due process and ensuring the accused are punished. Even now “calls” from Mumbai are coming in to supposedly monitor the process.

The BJP is confident, probably even overconfident, that the urban indian who is their vote bank will vote for them because their support for Prime Minister @narendramodi is non-negotiable. The man dwarfs not just every challenger in his party but everyone in the Opposition for good reason. And they will be happy as long as you support them.
But if you are important enough in the media or social circles and if you're seen to say anything that is even mildly inimical to the party and its leadership or its workings purely in good faith because you care, they'll come down on you like a ton of bricks.
If someone makes a suggestion, it's not because they hate Modi or the party. It's because they see something wrong and hope the party will make some course corrections.
For example, the upcoming cricket match between India and Pakistan in Dubai resulted in an uproar from the BJP's voter base. Have you heard from the party or the government about this, especially since Operation Sindoor is on? The deliberate silence is contemptuous.
And now, the well-meaning comments on the party's functioning by podcaster Ajeet Bharati on a recent podcast. Let's wait and see whether the party takes note or shuns Ajeet now. And let's see if they criticise anyone who has something to say about Ajeet's honest observations.
The BJP should ensure that 2029 doesn't become its 'India Shining' moment because it took its votebase for granted, like Vajpayee's advisors did.

Several under-construction bridges in Mumbai either do not include footpaths in their design, or have footpaths that are too narrow for safe, comfortable movement.

In many cases, these are replacements of old British-era bridges that had wide, functional footpaths—but the new ones have none. We cannot emphasise enough how alarming this is.

Even if it means sacrificing a vehicle lane, pedestrian infrastructure must not be compromised. Cities across the world are reclaiming road space for pedestrians and cyclists, recognising the environmental, social, and economic value of walkable urban design.

Mumbai cannot afford to move in the opposite direction. Narrowing or eliminating footpaths is not acceptable. We need to act now.

You say the world hates India because it admires leaders like Modi, Trump, or Israel. No , some in the world are simply uncomfortable with the fact that India is no longer apologizing for its existence. That India is finally assertive, self-respecting, and unapologetic in defending its people.

You talk about arrogance , let’s talk about Pahalgam, where 26 innocent civilians were massacred in cold blood. And yet, your reaction is to scold Indians for being “unlikeable.” There is zero empathy in your words just blame directed at the victims for refusing to be silent.

And then there’s Pakistan , a country that has, for decades, harbored and funded terrorism under the protection of its military.

Hafiz Saeed still walks free.

Masood Azhar, the mastermind of Pulwama, is “missing” in plain sight.

Every time India provides dossiers, satellite evidence, and international intelligence — Pakistan does nothing or worse, tips off the terrorists.

Pakistan doesn’t fight terror. It cultivates it.
And India is absolutely right to act in its own defense.

India isn’t acting out of aggression — it’s acting out of necessity. The idea that India should just sit quietly while its civilians are murdered, while global media downplays the tragedy, and while foreign-funded propaganda dominates the narrative is not just unrealistic, it’s insulting.

You can long for a poorer, weaker, quieter India.
