When I was elected General Secretary of the Association, I began writing to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister against feudal bureaucracy, the organised cartel of IRS officers exercising control and facilitating corruption, colonial administrative practices and VIP culture. I demanded fundamental bureaucratic reforms, insisting that the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission must be accompanied by comprehensive administrative reforms.

I ended one of my letters with a thought that assumes particular significance in the present instance.

This incident is nothing but a reflection of India’s colonial and feudal bureaucracy, where a person enters the service and suddenly finds himself vested with overwhelming power, without accountability, expertise or experience. He has no original work to perform, no specialised knowledge to demonstrate and no responsibility to shoulder. His entire authority consists of shouting at subordinates, issuing orders and exercising power over others. Everyone is expected to bow before him, and everything is placed at his feet.

I wrote these words:

I booked the Tatkal tickets today, 14 October 2026, through the IRCTC app for two passengers travelling from LTT (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus) to Mau Junction on 15 October 2026.

When I was booking the ticket, the app was showing that 25 seats available for 3rd AC. But completed the payment by me, the ticket status changed to Waiting List 51 and 52.

Now, I want to cancel the tickets. How much refund will I receive? The total amount charged was ₹4,444.50.

1. By what time will the reservation chart be prepared?
2. Will the refund be processed automatically if the tickets are not confirmed?
3. Will I still receive an automatic refund if the tickets remain waitlisted even after the chart has been prepared?
