However, in this serious and painful situation for the character, and especially since it's the mother who said those lines, the character cannot mock or insult her by imitating. Mahesh completely understood this assignment and didn’t overdo it.

Within the dialogue, there's a paraphrase that requires him to imitate the other person who said it. Usually, paraphrasing involves mocking or insulting the other person.

In the interval scene of #GunturKaaram, Ramana says “indhaaka aavida serious ga kindha ki chusthu, ee chettha antha clear cheyyaali andhi chusaava, evaranukunnav chetthante, maname”

the only reason why this scene/dialogue works so well is bcos of the exceptional actor delivering it. The soothing rhythm, perfect pauses, ups and lows in voice, & brilliant eye-to-hand coordination all contribute to its naturalness, making us empathise deeply with the character

This particular dialogue alone makes you feel what Ramana is experiencing throughout the first half: the anticipation, the desperation to see and meet his mother, the pain of not even knowing why she left... everything.
