पेट्रोल में 20% एथेनॉल (E20) मिश्रण नीति को लेकर सुप्रीम कोर्ट में एक जनहित याचिका (PIL) दायर की गई है. इसमें अनिवार्य रूप से पेट्रोलियम उपभोक्ताओं को जागरूक करने, ईंधन वितरण में नोजल पर इथेनॉल प्रतिशत प्रदर्शित करने और पुरानी गाड़ियों के लिए सादे पेट्रोल का विकल्प देने की मांग की गई है.सुप्रीम कोर्ट में याचिका अधिवक्ता नरेंद्र मिश्रा ने दायर की है.

इस याचिका में कहा गया है कि हर पेट्रोल पंप पर ईंधन के नोजल और रसीद (बिल) पर स्पष्ट रूप से लिखा होना चाहिए कि ईंधन में कितने प्रतिशत एथेनॉल मिश्रित है. याचिकाकर्ता के अनुसार, बिना जानकारी के ईथेनॉल-मिश्रित पेट्रोल (विशेषकर E20) बेचना उपभोक्ताओं के अधिकारों का हनन है, क्योंकि कई पुराने वाहन इसके लिए अनु��ूल नहीं हैं.
