Title: Say No to Parking Auto-Rickshaws in Private Vehicle Zones – A Message for a Better Guwahati

Guwahati is growing fast, and with it, the need for better traffic management and civic discipline. One major concern today is the unauthorized parking of auto-rickshaws in areas designated for private vehicles. This not only causes inconvenience to car owners but also blocks pedestrian walkways, creates traffic congestion, and poses safety risks.

As seen in the attached image, an auto-rickshaw is wrongly parked in a private vehicle zone right beside a zebra crossing. Such parking blocks visibility, forces people onto the road, and defeats the purpose of urban planning.

It’s important to remember that the Guwahati Traffic Police and Municipal Corporation have clearly marked areas for auto-rickshaw parking across the city. Misusing other zones is not only unfair but also punishable under the Motor Vehicles Act.

We urge auto drivers to park responsibly and respect designated zones. Parking in the wrong area may save a few minutes now, but it causes long-term chaos and risks to others.

Let us all — auto drivers, private vehicle owners, and pedestrians — do our part in keeping Guwahati’s roads organized and safe.

Let’s follow three simple steps:

1. Park only in marked auto zones.

2. Do not block footpaths or crossings.

3. Report repeated violations to local authorities.

Together, we can make Guwahati more disciplined, safer, and commuter-friendly.

Non-parking vehicles dumped in front of major hospitals in Guwahati are blocking ambulances, emergency exits, and patient access.

From GMCH to private clinics, rusting cars & unused bikes are turning hospital gates into scrap yards.
