Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the conference on 18th Sep 2025 and urged the Indian Defence Estates Service (#IDES) to transform Cantonment Boards into smart, green & sustainable urban ecosystems by 2035, aligned with the vision of a #ViksitBharat by 2047. 🇮🇳

The conference was graced by the presence of Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, PVSM, AVSM, Chief of the Air Staff, and the Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh kumar singh along with other senior dignitaries.

Focus areas: e-Chhawani 2.0 (AI-driven), citizen participation, smart power, EV hubs, waste-to-energy, AI surveillance & eco-friendly growth

This vision charts a path towards future-ready, sustainable #SmartCantonments in line with the Government of India’s development roadmap.

The Officer Trainees of the Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES) 2024 batch called on the Honourable President of India.
They were accompanied by the Defence Secretary, Secretary Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, the Director General of Defence Estates (DGDE), the Director of the National Institute of Defence Estates Management (NIDEM).
During his opening speech Defence Secretary briefed Honourable President Madam about the training journey of IDES (OTs)
During her interaction, the Honourable President underscored the imperative of integrating digital solutions in this era of rapid technological transformation.
Hon’ble President of India has also emphasised to make Cantonments as model townships.
