I just saw a viral video where a Yoruba man in South East said he bashed an Igbo man's car. Instead of being persecuted for being the guilty one, he said he was surprised that upon learning that he is Yoruba, they unanimously begged that he should go Scot-free.
This is the truth about the Igbo. They prefer to make excuses for strangers than see them oppressed. It is well captured in their custom with proverbs:
