The SC/ST Atrocities Act is India’s own blasphemy law.

Like Pakistan’s blasphemy law, it is widely misused. Like blasphemy cases, allegations can destroy lives before guilt is established. Like blasphemy, you can be booked for “insulting” figures who have been dead for centuries. And like blasphemy laws, its language is dangerously broad.

But there is one difference: the scale is far greater. It is more draconian.

The number of people destroyed by system under the SC/ST Act is vastly greater than those prosecuted under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws.

No country can call itself civilized if it implements laws like blasphemy and SC/ST Atrocity act.

Either reform it or abolish it. #StopMisuseOfScStAct

ये ‘यशोदा’ हैं, पूर्व में नाम हालिमा था। इनके नाना को 1992 के आस-पास रामपुर में कन्वर्ट कराया गया, फिर धन के लिए हत्या की गई। इनके मामा मिकी की हत्या हुई, चार मौसी, चार अन्य मामा कहाँ हैं, पता नहीं। 244 कमरों वाले मस्जिद-मदरसे में इनकी माँ के साथ चौदह वर्ष तक दुष्कर्म चलता रहा।

छोटी बहन को सर काट कर उपलों पर जला दिया, चार वर्ष की एक अन्य बहन का बलात्कार हुआ। इनकी माँ को किसी तरह इन्होंने बाहर निकाला। बाद में इनके साथ रेप हुआ, घुटनों से माँस काटा गया।

गुप्तांगों में बंदूक डाला गया, चाकू से यूटेरस तक को क्षति पहुँचाई गई, गले को इतना दबाया गया कि इनकी आवाज सही से नहीं निकलती। मैंने @officeofvijay1 द्वारा इनकी कहानी सुनने पर एक पॉडकास्ट किया, जो भयावह है। एक दोगले पत्रकार के पास दो वर्ष पहले गईं थीं, उसने मौलवी से लाख रुपए ले कर स्टोरी दबा दी।

@Uppolice @rampurpolice ने कल इसका संज्ञान ले कर कार्रवाई आरंभ की है। संभव है यह छांगुर बाबा टाइप का कुछ बड़ा विषय निकल आए जो उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस ने क्रैक किया।

@myogiadityanath जी से आग्रह है कि इस पीड़िता को न्याय दिलाएँ और इस पूरे घटनाक्रम की, जो 1992-2024 मार्च तक चला है, उसकी पूरी जाँच हो।

Srisailam is an ancient Shiva temple that has been mentioned in several Puranas. Hindus visited it for thousands of years.
