The Clear Choice Made at NewsdayTV Debate: Ed Romaine, Long Island��s ‘Top Executive’ handily defeats opponent in Televised Debate

MEDFORD, NY - Suffolk County Republican Party Chairman Jesse Garcia issued the following statement regarding the televised debate forum conducted today between Republican/Conservative candidate Ed Romaine and his Democrat/Working Families Party opponent, Dave Calone.

“Ed Romaine handily beat his opponent today in a debate sponsored by Newsday, demonstrating that he is the clear choice to make Suffolk safer and more affordable as County Executive.

“While his opponent, Democrat, and Working Families Party candidate David Calone, touted his Hochul liberal agenda, Romaine stressed the need for more law enforcement to make our streets safe and outlined his plan to roll back existing county taxes to put money back into the pockets of Suffolk residents.

“As Calone nervously referred to scripted notes repeatedly, Romaine spoke from his experience as a government leader who has a record of controlling taxes, strengthening local government finances, and making communities safer. Because of this record, Brookhaven has maintained a AAA bond rating from Wall Street for over a decade, and the quality of life in local communities has improved and become safer from the elimination of hundreds of zombie homes.

“Throughout the debate, Romaine came across as a knowledgeable statesman, while his opponent appeared as an opportunistic neophyte, struggling to score points with one-liners and zingers. It’s one of the reasons Newsday has referred to Romaine as Long Island’s, ‘most effective town executive.’”
