@mark_dow Perhaps, but policies optimizing for lowest death rates came largely at the expense of children. If you didn’t have elementary school age kids during COVID, you can’t possibly have had a holistic view.
@MapABitcoin@sidprabhu Not even in the same zip code. 08 was far, far worse. This is nothing. When you start to worry the dow might actually go to 0 (which makes no sense obviously) you’ll be approaching 08 levels of fear.
Wealth hoarding?? Welcome to capitalism lady. It’s what makes America great and the envy of the world. If you don’t celebrate people getting rich you should leave. You are more than welcome to go build a leading electric car company, rocket company, etc too. Takes brains + hard work but nobody’s stopping you.
@conor64@brithume What’s the “chaos” at the VA? General uncertainty about future employment perhaps? Realization that maybe it’s not a low stress job for life? I have a friend at the FDIC and it’s the same “chaos” you speak of. Welcome to the real world.
@politicalmath 💯reminds me of this quote (sorry don't know attribution) I saw the other day: “the NYT no longer exists to report the news, but to signal to its liberal audience when it’s safe to acknowledge a truth known long ago”.
@gummibear737 I don't disagree with the meme's comment at all - you're spot on there (it's an unserious way to communicate). The Fox interview was good PR work, and they should do that more regularly. But on the balance, really hard to criticize what they are doing.
@gummibear737 Did you not watch the Fox interview? Super easy to be an armchair quarterback and you'd be more credible with a bit more humility. You've got a contrarian streak your COVID work was incredible. Feels like you're reaching here just for the sake of being contrarian.
@charlescwcooke Great example of a book smart idiot. No real-life experience to draw upon. If he weren't a political thinker, he'd be a college professor. I find him to be a super annoying millennial. He should try build something in the real world and then check back in.
Dude you don’t get it. America is like a rich household that over the years joined 12 country clubs and is carrying 6 vacation homes. We out earned our indiscipline for a while but it’s not sustainable. Particularly if we go into population decline. Elons just doing what needs to be done. You couldn’t design a more perfect man for the job in a lab if you tried. Delete, delete, delete. Most Americans won’t notice a damn thing (did you notice anything when he took out 80% of twitters body count?). If you delete too much you can always add back. The risk is definitely skewed towards under deleting, not the other direction.
