Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. @nsitharaman visited the Samarkand State University, during her official visit to Uzbekistan from 24th to 28th Sept. 2024, today.

FM Smt. @nsitharaman while interacting with the faculty and students acknowledged the efforts of India and Uzbekistan for cooperation in the area of education including setting up campuses in Uzbekistan. Amity University and Sharda University have opened campuses in Tashkent and Andijan respectively and Sambhram University in Jizzakh region & Acharya University in Bukhara.

Talking about the excellence of education sector in India, FM Smt. @nsitharaman said that the Study in India programme enables international students to explore educational opportunities in varied disciplines such as Science, Management, Commerce, Law, Engineering, Humanities, Arts, Pharmacy as well as certain niche courses like Buddhist Studies, Yoga, etc.

While interacting, Rector of the University, Mr Rustam Khalmuradov appreciated the efforts taken by the minister in visiting the university. He spoke about the close collaboration with IIT Roorkie to foster research and collaboration in hydrology, environmental science, sustainable energy, and SDGs. He hoped to see more such engagements in the future
