A hard lesson for India must be that the US is a bigger strategic challenge for Delhi than China. And has forever been if seen from a wider perspective. Any amount of diplomatic sugarcoating cannot overlap the 'bipartisan' stigma America has for India.

It will just require a deft diplomat and a clear set of goals for India, to overcome, and strategise everything.

The biggest hindrance on Pakistan issue is India's own status quoist, lethargic decision making and institutional inertia.
