Imagine your red blood cells are like a house. To show your blood type to the world, your house needs two things:

1. A flagpole (a tiny anchor called the H-antigen).

2. A flag to hang on it (the A or B marker).

If you hang an 'A' flag, you are Blood Type A.
If you hang a 'B' flag, you are Blood Type B.
If you have a flagpole but hang NO flag, you are Blood Type O.

• Now in this case,
People born with the rare "Bombay Phenotype" are completely missing the flagpole.
Even if they genetically have an 'A' flag sitting in their closet, they have absolutely nowhere to hang it!

• When hospitals run standard blood tests, the machines only look for flags. When the machine doesn't see an A or B flag, it immediately assumes: "This person is Type O!" It doesn't realize the whole flagpole is missing....

• How the Baby Becomes Type A?
This parent genetically carries the 'A' flag but falsely tests as Type O.
When they have a baby with the other parent (who is a true Type O), the baby inherits two things:
The hidden 'A' flag from the Bombay parent.
A normal, healthy flagpole from the true Type O parent.
Suddenly, the baby has both pieces! They hang the 'A' flag up, test as a perfect Blood Type A.
