I'm seeing team leads under immense pressure.

Why? Because AI decoupled effort from output.

Developers can create giant PRs in a few minutes. But that code may take hours to vet, test, fix, and review.

In 2024, bad developers were easy to spot. They produced little code, or struggled to write code that even ran.

In 2026, bad developers can use AI to quickly generate tons of code they don't understand. It seems okay at a glance, but contains subtle problems and fundamental issues that are hard to spot.

@GitKraken Anyone else having issues with the v11.10.0 update? Every time I open the app, memory usage spikes to 100%. Its basically unusable right now. Help!

benefit of hiring junior engs is they can be molded into what works well for your team

benefit of hiring experienced engs is they can run on their own

problem with mid-level is they don't have enough experience to be independent but enough to have opinions

this is you btw

Toxic cultures exploit generosity. Takers impose extra work on givers, and no good deed goes unpunished.

Healthy cultures reward generosity. People protect givers from takers, and cream rises to the top.

Helpfulness is not a weakness to target. It's a strength to safeguard.

When the "stakeholders" control the work, the company will probably fail. You cannot succeed when politics, force, and power trumps skill & customer input. Without customers, there is no company. Without skilled workers who make their own decisions, there is no company.

When people say they can estimate accurately, here's what usually happens:

1) You make a wild-ass guess, often after weeks of careful analysis.

2) You know you're probably wrong, so you add padding, sometimes as much as 10x, depending on risk. 1/3

Tech Twitter is an amazing place.

18-20 yrs old kids who have never raised a single PR to any public GitHub repo are writing threads on "How to start open source contribution"?

Startup: We barely get any applicants for our job ad. Any advice?

Me: can I see the job advert?

So, here's a tip. You're asking for 15 different "must haves". Let's take a look at how many things Stripe asks for: not even half.

Which job would you apply for?
