Stay The Course

As a minister of the gospel, it is always encouraging to see people surrounding you and standing by you when you wake up every day
One of the worst things a minister of the gospel can experience is to be deserted or forsaken by those the Lord has called him to lead

I have seen many men of God fall into depression, and some even died, when the ministry God gave unto them collapsed, and those whom the Lord has called them to lead deserted them for one reason or another

Jesus experienced this after feeding the five thousand; John the Baptist experienced this after Jesus started his ministry.
John took it in good faith because his ministry dwindled for the right reason.

Jesus asked the disciples if they would also not leave after the crowd left, to which Peter replied, "Where shall we go, you have the word of life."
The same word was why those who left Jesus did so. They said his teachings were too hard.

One of the reasons people leave is because someone like Judas, who has been with a minister and tried hard to push himself into a place of prominence or visibility, would suddenly take offence and start besmirching the reputation of the minister and his ministry.

People usually depend on the recommendation of others (word of mouth) in order to buy a product, trust a service provider, or stay in a ministry.
When those who are supposed to be close to the minister begin to say bad things about the minister, it shakes the faith of many, and without giving the minister the benefit of the doubt, he or she will see some people departing.

There is no successful minister of the gospel in the world who has not experienced this in one form or another.
What you must learn is this: in order to be healthy as a tree of life, you must be pruned constantly.

Pruning is the selective removal of a plant's parts (branches, buds, roots) to improve its health, shape, safety, and productivity. It is done by cutting away dead, diseased, damaged, or unwanted material to encourage vigorous growth, better structure, and more blooms or fruit.

If your ministry is not pruned constantly, it will have too many unproductive branches drawing from the resources of the tree, and this will affect the growth of all the other branches and the productivity of the ministry as a whole.

You should look forward to being pruned, especially if you are preaching and teaching the gospel of grace and not the gospel of self or popularity.
Jesus didn't preach in order to keep the crowd; he preached in order to transform lives. (He chose quality over quantity)

Many ministers would rather have quantity, many people, or a crowd in their ministries to prove to the world that they are successful.
All over the world, the number of followers you have is an indication of how successful or influential you are in life.

This shouldn't be so, but sadly it is.
It is, however, better to have members who know the word of God for themselves and are growing in grace than members who are in your ministry because they like you, admire you, or want you to elevate them or endorse them or marry you, or see you as their meal ticket.

If you raise members who are fed with the Word of life, the best character assassination campaign will not shake you.
If you raise members who surround you because you are handsome or speak good English or have money, etc., you are sitting on a keg of gunpowder on a raging sea.

Remember that those who left Jesus ate bread and then decided to make him King.
As long as you gather those whose agenda for being with you is for their own welfare, you truly do not have anyone.
They will leave when you refuse to give them free bread.

Beware of those who, out of nowhere, force themselves into positions of prominence around you.
Those who understand the theory of Prominence by Association.
They want to be seen as your right-hand man or woman, and they buy their way or force their way into that space overnight.

They will be your Brutus one day, with a sharpened knife, they will stab you in the back, and tell those around you that you deserve it.
Those who have fed on the word of life will not be moved by their wickedness, but the superficial ones will follow such a person out of the door

Keep away from people's money.
One of the worst things to ever depend on as a minister of the gospel is the purse of your followers. You have a duty to fill their purses, not to deplete them.
If you depend on their purses, the richest ones become an easy target for those who desire to destroy you.

You must choose those who will be in your inner circle. Do not allow anyone to choose himself or volunteer or buy his or her way in, or tell you, "God told him to serve in your ministry or in your council."

If you are single, it is best to get married for your own safety. Being single as a minister, especially if you become quite prominent, will make all sorts of ladies who are looking to get married flock to your ministry with the hope of marrying you. Many of them will begin to see visions, hear from the lord, receive prophecies, and dream dreams simply because they see the void and desire to fill it.
"Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned."

Live your life to please the Lord.
Do not cave in to the demands of any man or woman who says, "This is how it is done, or this is the tradition we know." Follow the Holy Spirit's guidance alone.
Stick to your Audience of One.

Finally, Jesus said it is normal for people to drag you on Social media, revile you, persecute you, disdain you, insult you, mock you, and say all manner of evil things about you as long as it is for the sake of the gospel.
This is nothing new, so grow some thick skin and welcome to the party.
We are not in this to be popular; we are in this to change the world.

Your Spirit Man and The Holy Spirit

Once you have Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you automatically get the Holy Spirit too!
This way, your spirit is sealed in its illumination!
Remember that the presence of the Holy Spirit in the book of Genesis, from Chapter 1, enabled the creation of the world?
In the same way, the Holy Spirit in the life of a new believer begins to set things in order!
He separates the believer from every work of darkness, old habits, old friends, and old sins are eliminated from every believer's lifestyle! The believer becomes thirsty for the things of God
He or she longs for righteousness, peace, joy, and more of the Kingdom of heaven on earth!
The spirit in man and the Holy Spirit become one! According to the scriptures
1 Corinthians 6:17 New King James Version (NKJV)
17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
In essence, immediately you receive the Lord Jesus into your heart, the Holy Spirit takes over the affairs of your spirit, and he sets you on a path of the kingdom on your heart!
He changes your desires, your utterances, your hobbies, your habits, your lifestyle, your mindset, your culture, and every other thing!
You are now saved, sanctified, and justified!
A bona fide citizen of Zion
Just like Jesus was before His baptism!
The Bible made it very clear that Jesus was the son of God right from his birth, and He was full of the Holy Spirit

Matthew 1: 18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged in marriage to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with Child through the Holy Spirit.
Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit
Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus was also able to work miracles and make disciples

But after His Baptism, according to Luke 3: 21-23
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as He was praying, heaven was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” 23 Jesus Himself was about thirty years old when He began His ministry.
Something dramatic happened!

Even though Jesus had the Holy Spirit in him from the womb, the heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him bodily (like a dove in movement) the Holy Spirit is not a dove! The Holy Spirit is a person! His form is that of a human! Just like your human spirit is just your shape and form so is the Holy Spirit!
The scripture here only described how the form moved as it descended on him BODILY!

Note also that Jesus had already been baptized when the heaven opened! The scripture says "As Jesus was praying, the Holy Spirit descended on him in a bodily form like a dove followed by a voice from heaven!
Please note the following
1)Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
2) Jesus was never without the Holy Spirit all his life
3) John the Baptist (Also born full of the Holy Spirit) confirmed the superiority of the life and purpose of Jesus to the world

NOTE: John Testifies About Jesus
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”
32 Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. 33 And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”

4) JESUS while praying after his baptism received the Holy Spirit bodily!
5)After Jesus received the Holy Spirit bodily, he began his ministry in earnest!
Jesus also breathed on his disciples and gave them the Holy Spirit...
John 20: 21 Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.” 22 When He had said this, He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
But afterwards he told them to wait for the endument of power from above!
Wait for the Holy Spirit
Acts 1: 4-8
4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
The Ascension
(Mark 16:19-20; Luke 24:50-53)
6When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
They were promised POWER after the Holy Ghost is come upon then and then they can produce results in ministry!

We can do ministry with the person of the Holy Spirit and our will power
We can also do ministry with the person of the Holy Spirit and the Power of the Holy Spirit
To get the power of the Holy Spirit, we must ask for it and begin to pray in other tongues!
The secret behind the light of a believer shinning brighter and brighter in a dark world is the power of the Holy Spirit!
The power of the Holy Spirit is like a generator that ensures that the light you got from Jesus upon your salvation continues to shine so much that it also lights up other people through you in the name of Jesus, healing them of their infirmities bringing them bringing them the full salvation package in the name of Jesus!
You need the Holy Spirit!
Not only the person of the Holy Spirit that lighted you up when you came to Christ, but the power of the Holy Spirit that keeps your light shining brighter and brighter every day to the glory of God the father!
Pray in the Holy Ghost now!

See yourself walking about your locality like Jesus, pay attention to those you have seen on wheelchairs, blind, lame, the maimed and infirm in your community and ministering to these people! See yourself with your family members and friends, those you know their cases and issues and you have been desiring change for, lay hands on them and bless them! Heal their bodies, heal their souls, heal their spirits!
Those that are unsaved, lay your hands on them and command them to be saved! See the light permeating them body soul and spirit!
Pray on the Holy Ghost and begin to decree by the stirring of the Holy Spirit!
Make sure this exercise lasts for at least one hour

Mastering The Body

The relationship between the Spirit, the soul, and the Body for the unsaved soul is simple!
The body wants what it wants, so the body asks for it by sending signals to the soul, and the soul immediately gets into action by seeking such out!
The soul's desire in this case is to please the body!
The spirit goes along with whatever the body wants!
As long as the body is comfortable, the soul and spirit are happy!
It doesn't matter if what the body desired was moral, proper, godly, normal, or abnormal!
If the body desired it, the soul has a duty to provide it!
There are so many examples of such carnal demands in the Bible
A classic example is the popular story of what transpired between David and Bathsheba (Uriah's wife)
2 Samuel 11 New International Version (NIV)
David and Bathsheba
11 In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.

2 One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, 3 and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” 4 Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (Now she was purifying herself from her monthly uncleanness.) Then she went back home. 5 The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.”

6 So David sent this word to Joab: “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” And Joab sent him to David. 7 When Uriah came to him, David asked him how Joab was, how the soldiers were and how the war was going. 8 Then David said to Uriah, “Go down to your house and wash your feet.” So Uriah left the palace, and a gift from the king was sent after him. 9 But Uriah slept at the entrance to the palace with all his master’s servants and did not go down to his house.

10 David was told, “Uriah did not go home.” So he asked Uriah, “Haven’t you just come from a military campaign? Why didn’t you go home?”

11 Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah are staying in tents,[a] and my commander Joab and my lord’s men are camped in the open country. How could I go to my house to eat and drink and make love to my wife? As surely as you live, I will not do such a thing!”

12 Then David said to him, “Stay here one more day, and tomorrow I will send you back.” So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next. 13 At David’s invitation, he ate and drank with him, and David made him drunk. But in the evening Uriah went out to sleep on his mat among his master’s servants; he did not go home.

14 In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah. 15 In it he wrote, “Put Uriah out in front where the fighting is fiercest. Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down and die.”

16 So while Joab had the city under siege, he put Uriah at a place where he knew the strongest defenders were. 17 When the men of the city came out and fought against Joab, some of the men in David’s army fell; moreover, Uriah the Hittite died.

18 Joab sent David a full account of the battle. 19 He instructed the messenger: “When you have finished giving the king this account of the battle, 20 the king’s anger may flare up, and he may ask you, ‘Why did you get so close to the city to fight? Didn’t you know they would shoot arrows from the wall? 21 Who killed Abimelek son of Jerub-Besheth[b]? Didn’t a woman drop an upper millstone on him from the wall, so that he died in Thebez? Why did you get so close to the wall?’ If he asks you this, then say to him, ‘Moreover, your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead.’”

22 The messenger set out, and when he arrived he told David everything Joab had sent him to say. 23 The messenger said to David, “The men overpowered us and came out against us in the open, but we drove them back to the entrance of the city gate. 24 Then the archers shot arrows at your servants from the wall, and some of the king’s men died. Moreover, your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead.”

25 David told the messenger, “Say this to Joab: ‘Don’t let this upset you; the sword devours one as well as another. Press the attack against the city and destroy it.’ Say this to encourage Joab.”

26 When Uriah’s wife heard that her husband was dead, she mourned for him. 27 After the time of mourning was over, David had her brought to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing David had done displeased the Lord.

Many of us read the story with indignation!
How dare David, a King, do that!
How dare David, a prophet of God, do that?
How dare David, the anointed of the Lord do that?
How dare David, the man after God's own heart do that?
Don't forget that David was anointed King as a teenager, he was raised in the court of King Saul and he was very conversant with the law of God!
He was a spiritual man!
David's spiritual feat earned him a "forever" throne before God!
Yet, when David's body demanded that he abuse his power, break the law, and do the unthinkable, he didn't hesitate!
He went after his objective with determination!
We have all been in David's shoes before!
Spirit-filled tongue-talking believers!
We find ourselves in a place where we ignored the voice of the Holy Spirit and did our own WILL!
We have excuses!
Some of our excuses are reasonable and others are flimsy, but we find a way to justify and rationalise our poor decisions
We sleep with someone we are not supposed to sleep with, eat something we are not supposed to eat, say things we are not supposed to say, take things we are not supposed to take, nurse feelings we are not supposed to nurse, encourage the attention we were supposed to discourage!
Whenever we cede control of our actions to the body through the soul, we are practically asking the Holy Spirit to take a back seat in our affairs! The desires of the body and the soul without the guidance of the Holy Spirit is always going to land us in trouble!
We must therefore consciously refuse to indulge in the desires of the flesh!

HOW DO I AVOID THE DESIRES OF THE FLESH?

Many believers approach living a spirit-led life by asking the question above.
They then proceed to tackle the problem from the outward position!
They insist a believer must dress in a certain way, eat certain things, dress in a certain way and befriend certain people
The approach of the Lord Jesus was simple
What Defiles a Person?
Matthew 15:10-20
10 And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” 12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” 13 He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. 14 Let them alone; they are blind guides.[c] And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” 15 But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.” 16 And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled?[d] 18 But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. 20 These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”
If you change the inward man, the outward man will change!
Romans 12: 1-2
1Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

How Do I renew my mind?
Ephesians 5 gave us many clues

8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, 9for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth. 10 Test and prove what pleases the Lord.
11Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself. 14So it is said:
“Wake up, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
15Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless indiscretion. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Wives and Husbands
(Song of Solomon 1:1-3; 1 Peter 3:1-7)
21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her 26to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to Himself as a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless.
- Expose everything to light (You must have no secret habits): I tell believers who find themselves caught in the web of any form of addiction and bad habit to expose it to the Lord in prayer especially speaking in tongues and reading the scriptures! Within a short time, the habit disappears!
-You fruit is now goodness, righteousness and Truth!
- Test and prove everything pleasing to God (Dont do anything because other believers are doing it. Be intentional about your actions)
- Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness (Old habits, friends and beliefs are no longer allowed in your life)
-Expose the deeds of darkness to light (Hide nothing, keep no secrets from the Holy Spirit)
-Walk wisely (in love)
- Redeem the time
- Understand God's will
- Be filled with the Holy Spirit
-Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs
-Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord
- Give thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of Jesus
- Christ sanctifies and cleanses the church by the washing with water through the word! (If you study the word and do as it says, Christ will sanctify and cleanse you too)
If you follow the instructions above, you will automatically find yourself transformed from within!
You will not be a believer who practises religion with bitterness in his or her heart because under the toga of religion still lies a deep love and lust for the old life!
At first it there may be a little bit of struggle here and there but as you persist in His will, it will become your way of life!
You will live this way alone in a desert or in a city
Your Christian walk will not be a roller coaster ride or a yo-yo! Up today and down tomorrow!
Your walk will be constant and consistent
Love will guide you against self-righteousness, a holier-than-thou attitude, and a judgmental attitude
You will not be one of those pleading for the Holy Spirit to come all the time! The Holy Spirit will be your constant companion
Your life is now Christ's life

True Wisdom

Yet wisdom is vindicated (shown to be true and divine) by all her children [by their life, character, and deeds] (Luke 7:35 AMPC).

True wisdom is the manifestation or revelation of the rightness of God in your spirit; it’s a guiding force that causes you to act, respond, or speak beyond natural human reasoning. It’s also the expression of the power of God in thoughts, plans, purpose, and decision-making. When the wisdom of God functions in you, it becomes the power that influences your choices in life. That’s why it’s a guiding force.

Wisdom propels you in the right direction in life and positions you in the place of advantage. For example, Genesis 39 tells the story of Joseph, who was sold into slavery in Egypt by his brothers. Nevertheless, the Bible says he found grace in the sight of Potiphar, his master, and served him: “…and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand” (Genesis 39:4).

In the course of time, Joseph was imprisoned because his master’s wife falsely accused him, but wisdom promoted Joseph, and gave him the advantage, such that even while in prison, he became the head of the prisoners.
Joseph’s story is a very inspiring one.
Notice Pharaoh’s remarks to his servants as a result of the wisdom he saw and heard in Joseph: “...Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, For as much as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou…See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt” (Genesis 41:38-41).
The Egyptian Empire was preserved by the wisdom of God revealed in the thirty-year-old Hebrew prisoner, Joseph.
Wisdom promoted him from being a prisoner to becoming the Prime Minister of the most powerful empire overnight.
No wonder we’re admonished in the Word to celebrate and exalt wisdom (Proverbs 4:8). When you do, wisdom will promote you and propel you in the path of honour and greatness.

The word translated ”wisdom” above is the Hebrew ”Phronesis,” and it’s a force that controls you. It’s a spiritual elixir that locates you within the framework of God’s will, beyond your natural understanding, causing you to do God’s things God’s way, in God’s time for God’s purpose! It’s also a mindset; an excellent mindset that causes you to think in a certain way and to say the right things in the right way at the right time for the right purpose in the right place.

This was the wisdom Solomon received from the Lord that caused him to excel in good judgment, so much so that the Bible says,”… there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom....” (1 Kings 4:34). God gave Solomon an extraordinary amplitude of comprehension; he had practical wisdom. ���Phronesis” propels you to make accurate choices, sound judgments and decisions, and to do things right the first time. You can develop ”Phronesis” through studying and meditating on the Word of God and through praying in the Holy Ghost – speaking in tongues.”

Oh, but I thought the Word says Christ has been made unto us wisdom from God?” you might ask. Yes. But that wisdom is ”Sophia” (Greek), which means theoretical wisdom, or insight into reality; it means all the collective understanding of all things. There’s also a third kind of wisdom called ”sunesis”; this is critical wisdom; the ability to understand concepts and see relationships between them. It suggests a quickness of apprehension; the penetrating consideration which precedes actions.

Whereas ”Phronesis” is practical wisdom; it’s a force that makes you do and say the right things before you even think. God gives you ”Sophia” – insight into reality, so that you can have ”sunesis” – an understanding, for the purpose of developing in you ”Phronesis”; a mindset for a successful and extraordinary life

The Greek word sunesis is used in a vast array of writings to describe understanding. It’s a portmanteau of two words: “sun” (meaning to be gathered together with [someone]) and “nesis” (which is a collection of anything). So together the word means to be gathered together collectively unto a personality. The word “sun” is usually associated with a personality whenever it is used in Greek writings. So if the word “understanding” is examined in this setting, it means a compilation unto a personality…how is that so? Who is this Personality?
The Bible says that we have the Mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).

He is the ultimate image of the man we are in God. So pure wisdom and understanding is therefore embodied in Him because in Him dwells the fullness of the Godhead (Colossians 2:9). Therefore, true understanding is in having the Mind of Christ. Having the Mind of Christ is not like purchasing a microchip and inserting it into a device, expecting the device to do or become what is programmed on the chip. That cannot work.
There has to be a relationship with the Personality, a living and constant fellowship (koinonia) to sync our minds with the Mind of Christ.

Wisdom is more than just a force or an abstract theory. Wisdom is Christ, and having the Mind of Christ is how we acquire understanding and rhema with all the wisdom we get in the logos (The Word). So fellowship and a personal relationship with Christ, through the Holy Spirit who is here with us now, is the pathway to living in real wisdom and understanding.
Many people have great ideas, be it about their jobs, finances, business, ministry or career; but sadly, not many are able to fulfil or bring those ideas to fruition. Yes, they have this very inspiring idea of what they’d do or could do, but they procrastinate; before long, discouraging thoughts and seeming “valid reasons” not to act will come up, until the inspiration wanes and the dream dies.
Success comes from “doing”; that is, acting, not from seeing only. That’s why we have lots of people with great ideas—in business, politics or ministry— whose ideas never amounted to a hill of beans; they never took action. In fact, if you’d listen to them speak, you’d be awed at their lofty ideas, but they lack the drive and motivation to act.

If the foregoing describes you, the solution is simple: you need to meditate on the Word. God’s Word is a propelling force.
That’s why beyond “sophia” and “sunesis” which are two different kinds of wisdom (remember, the Word of God is the wisdom of God), you must walk in “phronesis”; (these are three kinds of wisdom in the Greek New Testament).
“Sophia” is theoretical wisdom and insight into reality; it’s the collective understanding of things. “Sunesis” is critical wisdom; that is, mental or analytical knowledge; the ability to understand concepts and see relationships between them. But “Phronesis” is practical wisdom; it’s a force that makes you do and say the right things before you even think.

Therefore, if you’re in this situation of “conceptualizing” and not “acting,” begin to have daily sessions of meditating on the Word. Begin with Philippians 2:13; several times every day, you say out loud, “For it is God who works in me, both to will and to do of His good pleasure. He’s effectively at work in me, strengthening and energizing me, not just to think or know what to do, but to actually do them.”
Practise this long enough and you’ll never have dreams or goals that didn’t materialize.
“Doing” people are successful people because many people see but they don’t act! But when you see and act, it sets you apart for greatness. So, by the Spirit, go all out to pursue your dream and achieve your goals henceforth.

Little Man Syndrome

There are people who are so little in their estimation of themselves that they pull strongly at other people who are of greater and higher standing than they are in life, so as to diminish them.
They think they need to diminish these people in order for them to be greater than their station in life.
They try to win people over to their side by speaking ill of others, especially those who they perceive to be more popular, more respected, or more beloved than they are.
This "little man syndrome" describes a supposed personality trait of being overbearing or aggressive to compensate for a perceived inferiority complex.

When you meet someone suffering from this syndrome, you will immediately notice certain behavioural tendencies. The chief among these is hypocrisy or playing to the gallery.
In a social group, church, or fellowship, he or she wants people to address him or her by lofty titles, and he or she is gravely offended if anyone dares to talk to him or her without according him or her this title.
He or she feels very offended
Most times, the title is not earned, and at other times, the title is all about age and not accomplishments.
A small man will rant and rave about someone calling him or her by her first name without adding "respect" to it.
"I am older than you, I am not your mate, I am not someone you can call by my first name, I have a higher standing than you in society, and you must accord this right to me by respecting me as such!"

Inferiority complex wears many garbs; one must see it for what it is and strip it of all its attending pretenses.
A small man surrounds himself or herself with those who make him the center of attention, and as a result, he continues to be the only towering light while those all around him or her continue to diminish in value or social standing.
No one who is in his or her circle has the potential to rise above him or her in life.
Greatness in others is a threat to the little man.
I know a pastor who didn't have a car when he became a pastor.
His assistant pastor, however, had a car
This pastor told his assistant pastor not to drive to church anymore because it makes him look somehow in the eyes of the congregation.
I know another pastor who is surrounded by people in their thirties, mostly female; every opportunity for any of them to get married is killed by this person with his acidic nature and inferiority complex in the name of giving people marital counsel
Imagine killing other people's potential relationships and marriages, all because your circle will shrink if they get married.
Ego so fragile, a dog could bark it into shrinking.

People suffering from "small man" or "small woman" syndrome are always looking out for your mistakes so that they can capitalize on them to spread venomous rumours about you.
They lack the creativity and the industriousness to start, create, or make anything by themselves.
They depend on others to create something, they worm their way into the center of that person's creation, and then they begin to fight for relevance or push their way into relevance
They lead the whispers by positioning themselves as an authority, which they really are not, and making bold claims about their relationship with the powers that be.
You will hear something like "I and the pastor were in a closed meeting all night", "The pastor tells me things that he normally wouldn't tell anybody", "I am the right-hand man of the founder", "I have the ears of the boss"
Like Absalom, optics is what they live for, not substance.

Give an inferiority complex the microphone and watch him puff himself up while tearing others down.
He or she cannot help it.
If you call him by his name, he would take offence, but he or she would gladly call you by your name and expect you to take it because it gives him or her a sense of importance
I was invited to a wedding anniversary once.
The age difference between the husband and the wife is very similar to the age difference between I and my wife.
At every turn, this man was calling my wife by her name.
He did it until my wife got embarrassed, but I have always accorded this man's wife the full respect I should accord her because that is the right thing to do.
This was quite funny to me because I do not have that kind of relationship with this person in any way
Why then did he do that over and over again?
In Game of Thrones, there was this character called "Little Finger".
The man was trying hard to create an impression in the heart of the crowd that we shared a familiarity that we didn't have.
Puffing himself up by building upon the profile of someone far greater than he could ever be.
It was somewhere in the 48 Laws of Power, but that is not how the Holy Spirit raised us to behave in any way.
That was exactly who came to mind whenever I remembered that day.

The praise and adulation of people are important to little people.
They pander to the crowd a lot, and when you want to put them in their place, all you have to do is take away their relevance.
It is the one thing they fear the most
A man or woman who is raised to lead and own does not fear leaving the present behind to start something unique and enduring
Abraham left Ur of the Chaldees without a second thought, Jacob left Padam Haran without a second thought, Esau left his father's tent without a second thought, Samuel relinquished the leadership stool without a fight but you see the likes of King Saul, Queen Athaliah, Absalom, Rehoboam, Adonijah, they were little and can only puff themselves up in other people's creations because they lack the ability to create anything for themselves.

Finally, inferiority is always loud-mouthed and lacking decorum. It battles to understand the liberality of the greater mind.
Because it is lacking in originality, it always plays by established playbooks and finds solace in traditional patterns or cultural norms
This is why it is so small and unable to conform to the dynamism of the Holy Spirit in its bearings.
So instead of ascending, it gathers human accolades.
Instead of building others up, it tears others down to look good.
Instead of minding its own business, it spreads rot and is surrounded by those who find spreading rot very comfortable.

PS: If all you have to show for fulfilling your destiny in Christ are birthday parties, wedding anniversaries, family functions, and mundane celebrations, I find your life to be lacking in true inspirations from above
Jesus said the life of a man is not to be considered as fulfilled by the abundance of "things" like this.
The evidence of a true Christian life lies in the transformation of the realities of others.
Miralces are good, but they are often just the tip of the iceberg.
True impact is in the testimonies being lived by those who draw inspiration from your life.
"How can you still be in one spot, having spent so long with me?" This was the question Jesus asked his disciples in John 14.
If you are a leader and those who surround you are not shining brighter than you or almost brighter than you in every way, you are suffering from little man syndrome.
It is even worse if they are celebrating you by throwing parties for you, left and right, like the pilot fish does for the shark.

Chaos

This is the world we live in now
You will read something like “A man can menstruate”
You will then point to the fact that this is impossible
The person begins to cry and call you names
People then side with the person and label you insensitive and prejudiced against an imagined group of people of imagined genders cooked up in the fried brains of someone whose permanent residence is located in a psychiatric hospital.

This is the world we live in now!

A world where we must understand and show empathy for a human being who claimed he or she identifies as a goat or as a cat or as a baby. It makes no sense and yet you must pretend to understand

A world in which lies fabricated in the corridors of “wokeness” is leading to mutilations of all kinds in the material realm.
Some doctors actually came up with surgeries to turn male to female and female to male.
This is impossible as the entire chromosomes is a human body cannot be changed from XX to XY and vice versa.

This is the world we live in now, lies forever on the throne and the truth forever on a scaffold.

This is the world we live in now, a world in which the quest to become famous no longer depended on exhibiting our genius but in peddling the most basic parts of the human anatomy and all forms of scandals

This is the world we live in now, a world where the truth is starved of attention and knowledge is dismissed as boring and unimaginative.
A world where a twenty year old can offer a 50 year old marital advice or condemnation in the strongest terms
and even insult him or her before discovering the same person was his father or mother tweeting with a pseudonym account.

This is the world we live in now, a world where false narratives are cooked up and made to go viral by a group of people trying to make a thing of nothing.
You will see something like “Male loneliness epidemic” and “female loneliness epidemic”
The researcher would take samples of some people in New York or London and come to a conclusion which is published on behalf of the whole world.
You will see something like “Men are not getting married” but it is women wearing wedding gowns by faith to church programmes and events praying to be married.
Most men are married or in different kinds of situationships as they deem fit from having partners, to having baby mamas, to serial monogamy, polyamory and polygamy and this will continue to be.
The problem is, while men can adopt any form of sexual relationship and still go on to live their lives unperturbed, the ladies couldn’t really afford to do the same.
Monogamy has been proven to be the best form of familial relationship especially because of the balance it offers the children.
The quest to keep the family unit monogamous as against the natural inclination of both genders towards polygamy has been a battle for ages

This is the world we live in now. A world where we aim to deconstruct existing social, marital, religious, cultural and traditional norms and yet refuse to replace what was with anything of substance.
We create cracks and vacuums in human reality and societal order and wonder where the demons crawled in from.

This is the world we live in now. A world where a hammer is insisting it is a scalpel and will like to be used for surgery and no one dare to tell it, that rather than heal the sick, it will only cause serious damage.
A world where even though we know the hammer won’t work, we cheer it on and motivate it all in the name of political correctness.

This is the world we live in now.

A world where females providing for themselves is celebrated online but found repulsive in reality.
She will say “I work and meet my own needs I don’t need a man” only to meet a man and bleed him dry of his income with her never mind ending demands.
“His money is our money but my money is my money”
A world where males would rather take than give.
Withdraw rather than Father.
Lie rather than love
Surface rather than depth.
This is the world we…

Change is Personal

One of the truths I have come to embrace in the course of preaching the gospel is the fact that you cannot change everybody.
This does not mean you shouldn't try, but it means change is a personal thing, and when someone is determined not to change, there is nothing you can do about it.

Take, for example, a young man that my team and I met on one of our missionary trips several years ago in a remote village in the northern part of Nigeria.
He was introduced to us by the pastor in charge of the ministry we were invited to minister for, to help us settle in.
As soon as we got there, I noticed the young man was trying to get my attention in a certain way. When he eventually had his five minutes, he said all sorts of evil things about the pastor and asked me for some money to reach out to his family and get some help because the pastor had practically ruined his destiny and turned him into a slave.

I could see all the traces of addiction in him; he was an alcoholic, and it was obvious.
When I had a minute with the pastor some hours later, I asked him what the issue was with the young man.
The pastor said the young man had embraced the dark side of reality from his childhood, and as a result of this, he is engaged in every form of evil acts, from fraud to theft to kidnapping to extortion, and all manner of criminal conduct

The pastor said he was hoping that my team and I would be able to minister to him and deliver him from his maladies.

He said they had tried rehab and other forms of interventions and had come to conclude that whatever ails the young man was spiritual.

I decided to talk to the Lord about the young man's case. We have a mandate through the Holy Spirit to rebuild broken walls and desolate destinies.
We were once like the young man before Christ, by his grace found us
What He has done for us, we must do for others.

I sat with the young man for an hour later that day, and I discovered he had a wife and a child (He impregnated a young lady), and both the lady and the child were staying with his parents because he would usually get too drunk and beat his wife and child mercilessly.

The young man told me a lot of things. He said he was a cultist when he was a student at a polytechnic and that he had committed a lot of atrocities all over.
He acknowledged that he needed help and affirmed that the pastor he was staying with was helping him by keeping him busy and out of prison, where he was.

I noticed, however, that while we were talking, he kept trying to get money from me. Every line of discussion led to "If you give me some money, I will call my parents to come and meet with you to discuss this further" or "My father must have done something diabolical before I was born, if you give me some money, i will use it to bring him to you so you can make him confess" and so on.

I assured him that I know all the gimmicks of an addict, and I will not fall for his lies. I knew he needed the money to get a drink and some hard drugs.
All the signs were there, from shifty eyes to restive demeanour.
We agreed that he should be on the crusade ground that evening so that he could be ministered to.

He didn't show up.

When I got back to the guest house where we were lodged, he was nowhere to be found.
At about midnight, he stumbled in. Drunk and out of his senses.
That night, in his inebriated state, he attempted to grind some pepper with the grinding machine, and his fingers got seriously injured in the process.

The next morning, with his bandaged fingers and reddish eyes, I tried having a conversation with him.
He was not interested in taking responsibility for his own actions
He said he didn't believe in God, and all he wanted was his drink and drugs

I didn't give up on him.
I knew he needed time to discover the reality he was living in and make a conscious effort to come out of that cesspool of misery.

I had a discussion with the pastor, and he said the same thing.
Barely a month after we left the church, the young man found his way into the electrical transformer of the community, burgled it, and stole some electric cables.
The local vigilante group caught him and would have killed him. He was spared because the pastor was a well-known philanthropist in that community.

He was released to the care of the pastor. The pastor decided to take him out of that community. When they got to the city, the pastor left him in charge of his house in Lagos while traveling abroad.
As soon as the pastor boarded his flight, he went to the pastor's office and lied to his colleagues that the pastor had been involved in a motor accident and needed money to contact his wife and children, who were living abroad.

He got some money from the pastor's colleagues and took to his heels.
Nobody could account for him to date.

Another example is a young woman who couldn't help sowing seeds of discord among members of any Christian fellowship or church he joins.

She would join a church or fellowship, establish herself with the aim of serving the Lord, and grow in grace, but as soon as she is well established, something would move her to suspect other members of one ill or the other without cause.

She airs these suspicions to other members of the church in the form of gossip and backbiting.
It always backfires, and when it does, she gets disgraced out of that church or fellowship

She tells herself she would stop
Sometimes she makes a vow to God that she would not befriend anyone and would just be on her own going forward if he ever gave her the opportunity to be established in another fellowship

He would wait for a few months, find another fellowship, and once she is comfortable with the ministers and mode of worship, she would join.

She would keep her vow for a few months until she became comfortable in the fellowship or church.
Then she would start whispering all sorts of things in the ears of the members all over again.

She would call members fishing for information and even go as far as to stay with some members for a weekend or a few days in order to fish for fresh information, which she would then make her personal mission to broadcast everywhere.

The information she spreads is often untrue, exaggerated, and out of context.
She never has anything good to say about anyone, since bad news spreads quickly, she peddles bad news exclusively, and within a short time, she gains the infamy that gets her thrown out of fellowship.

This was how she was until she got married.
Her husband, a quiet and private man, found himself summoned to the pastor's office one year after he married and brought her into the church.
The pastor wanted to know why his wife was spreading lies about his family.

The husband had no reply.
When he confronted his wife, she said she did not want to attend the church again because they were not loving enough to overlook her flaws.

They left that church and joined another.
The wife repeated the same thing
It almost tore their marriage apart, but she begged him that she would keep to herself from that time going forward.

Her husband made rules that he insisted she must adhere strictly to.
No visitors from anywhere must come to their house, and she must not go visiting any member of the church alone.
She was not allowed to befriend anyone or talk about anyone
Her mandate was simple: Mind your business.

She agreed.

Her husband warned her that the next time she drags him into a scandal, he would divorce her.
She knew he meant it, and she made up her mind to shut the doors of her mouth

She did it again; however, it was as if she could not help herself.

This time, her husband was the leader of the Men's Missionary Society of the church, where she stirred up a huge scandal, and he was relieved of his position due to her conduct

Her husband reached out to me and complained bitterly about his wife's struggle with this ungodly affliction.
He wanted to know if there was a special prayer or counselling session that could be done for her.

I told him all she needed was self-control.

They had a counselling session and she promised she would do better.

They joined another church, a very conservative church where the husband felt she could learn a bit from the older women and mind her excesses.

This time, she dropped the mother of all scandals within two years of joining the church.
Her conduct earned her and her husband six months' suspension and a compulsory seat on the mourner's bench

After observing the six-month suspension, her husband left her.
He got an opportunity to work in Ireland, and he took it.
At first, he told her he would work on her papers so that she could join him, but as soon as he got there, he severed all ties.

PS: Jesus had a mannerism which I believe every minister must adopt.
He would ask the sick, What do you want me to do for you? or Would you like to be healed?
He did this because he understood how human nature works.
You cannot wish or force healing on someone who does not want to be healed
You cannot force change on someone who does not want to change
External help can only go so far, true change must come from within

Blowing Her Trumpet

I remember the first day I saw. the Brother
He came to church with an application letter to help train the church choir
He was a saxophonist and a trained music director
The pastor welcomed him with open arms
He was just what the choir needed at the time
The pastor loves music, and the church has capable singers without any form of training
So the pastor hired him, and he delivered
Within a month, the choir was singing very well, and the Spirit was moving mightily
The brother’s job was done, but he didn’t leave
He asked the pastor if he could stay on
The pastor told him he could, but the church could not afford to pay him anymore
His initial payment had come straight out of the pastor’s pocket
He agreed, but he had his own conditions
His wife and three children were living with her parents due to some financial issues he had
He asked the pastor if he could stay on in exchange for accommodation within the church premises
The church had a pastoral quarters with several unused rooms
It was meant to be the pastor’s accommodation, but he had his own house and chose not to move to the parsonage
The pastor agreed
The next request of the saxophonist was unique
He asked if the pastor and some elders of the church would please accompany him to his in-laws’ house to beg them for the release of his wife and children to him
The pastor asked him why he needed him and the elders to do this
The brother said he used to be rich
He was a computer engineer in charge of all the computer acquisition and training of personnel for a big church, but things took a downturn for him due to some investment issues
His wife and children were forced to move back to her parents’ house for this reason
He said he had tried hard to regain some form of stability so that he could bring his family back under one roof, but his wife’s parents had prevented the move because they did not trust him to be stable enough to cater to his family’s needs
The pastor felt he had a case
The pastor summoned the elders and church leadership for a meeting and tendered the case of the saxophonist
A date was set to meet with the saxophonist’s in-laws
The day after the church leadership meeting, I got to church and found blood everywhere
The brother was lying on the stairs of the parsonage with a scissors plunged deep into his shoulders
A lady was standing over him with fire in her eyes
The lady was not unknown, nor was she known
She was one of those members who started coming to the church soon after the saxophonist began to train the choir
Nobody knew she was known to the saxophonist personally within the church
Two other ladies were struggling to restrain the lady from killing the saxophonist
I called the police
They arrived and took the lady away
What happened?
While the saxophonist was broke and looking for a way out of his predicament, he decided to set up a computer literacy school in the area
He also came up with letters of introduction to churches with requests to train their choir
All in a bid to get something to do that would fetch him some money
He met the lady at another church where she was a member of the choir
The lady was a tailor who had a shop where she worked and lived
The brother asked her if he could use part of her shop to set up his computer repair business
She agreed.
They both worked in the shop by day, and they both slept in the shop by night
One thing led to another, and they began to have sex
The brother didn’t really like the setup up but his beggar had no choice at the time
Soon after this arrangement was made, he reached out to our church and got the choir training gig
Things began to turn around for him
He told the lady he was moving to the parsonage, and he had also been given the space to work on his computer business within the church premises
The lady expected that he would extend a hand of invitation to her as his woman who would move with him into the parsonage
She, however, learned that his real plan was to bring his estranged wife and children back into his life and walk away from her
This was what led to the confrontation that made her stab him out of anger
The pastor was livid
How could a good Christian brother do this?
The pastor said he must be punished, banished, and ostracised
I had a totally different opinion
When people are desperate, they do desperate things
The brother had nowhere to work or sleep, and the lady offered a tiny window of hope
He took it, but he knew he didn’t belong at that level and kept striving to do better
As soon as he got a better offer from the church, he didn’t go back to the lady
He asked to be reconciled with his wife and children
His motive was clear even before we got involved in the mess regarding the tailor
There should be no more punishment of any kind
Sleeping with that violent lady was more than enough punishment in my mind
The pastor agreed, and the church worked hard on getting the saxophonist and his wife together under one roof
The violent lady was in jail for some time before the church bailed her out and offered her some financial compensation with a caveat that she must keep far away from the brother, just as the police also instructed.
Months after the whole issue had died down and the saxophonist had been reconciled with his family
I was having a conversation with him, and I teased him about enjoying free sex with the tailor
I said, “Brother, you must have blown that lady’s prophet so well for her to attack you the way she did.”
He said, “Brother Gbenga, do you think I would naturally be caught dead with that kind of woman?
The first night I slept with her in the shop, I slept fully clothed on the mat facing the wall while praying and crying silently for God to rescue me from the pool of misery I had flung myself into
She came and pressed her naked body to my back while her hands roved all over my front
I could rebuff her like Joseph did if I were a better man, but I couldn’t
I mean, I could have, but I didn’t do so because I had nowhere else to go
I had been sleeping in bus stops and under the bridge for months
I didn’t want to go back to that
I was not paying for the shop space or the food she was offering me
If all she wanted in return was sex, I felt I had to do it in order not to get chased out of that shop the next morning
You know how many ladies react to rejection, and she was especially very aggressive in nature
So I gave in, and from that day, as I slept with her, I cringed within and begged God to help me come out of it
Coming to your church was my saving grace.”

PS: Men and women do desperate things when they find themselves drowning in the pit of misery
We can judge them and insist that they could have made better choices, like the three Hebrews
Who knows if he had resisted and thrown out, what angel the Lord would have sent to rescue him
it is always easier said than done
So many drivers, security men, and jobless young men who end up as gigolos will tell you similar stories
So many men who married the wrong woman for survival will tell you the same story
This is why it is important for men to have a solid source of livelihood before making decisions on love and marriage
Sometimes, what they are trading for that marriage or relationship is not their heart
Like Esau, many have traded their destinies away for a morsel of bread out of desperation

A healthy church gives a balanced spiritual diet, not just messages that make you feel good. If you only chase teachings that please you, you’ll end up running from altar to altar, missing the nourishment you truly need to grow.

Winning or losing, getting it wrong or right, it’s all part of the game. Racism is not! Tel is still a young lad, great player at the beginning of his journey… and doesn't deserve this, just like anyone else.

This type of behaviour has no place anywhere anymore. I hope these people (if I can even call them that) are severely punished!!

It's so easy to hide behind a social media profile spreading hate and this kind of speach. Something has to change! We're with you, Tel!

Today begins a new season for us, one that is truly special to me.

Becoming the first captain of this beautiful club is an incredible honor.

I arrived here four years ago with a single dream: to write my name into the club’s history and leave my mark by winning a trophy, and I achieved that.

Now, a new journey is in front of us. A beautiful season lies ahead, and together we will work to relive the joy of that unforgettable day, May 21, 2025.

Whatever happens along the way, I ask only one thing: stay united. There will be highs and lows, but together, nothing is impossible.

“for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed” (Romans 13:11).

No one enters the fullness of salvation’s riches in a single day. It unfolds, layer upon layer, as you walk with the Lord. The path of the just “shines brighter and brighter until the perfect day” (Proverbs 4:18).

That means you are not meant to stagnate in yesterday’s light—your salvation journey is designed to pull you forward, into ever-increasing brightness, clarity, and strength.

It is nearer, not further. Each act of obedience, each moment in His presence, each revelation from His Word, is another stride towards the perfect day when faith becomes sight.

This is the holy paradox of salvation—you already have it, yet you are still approaching its full splendour. You are not running from glory; you are running into it. The light is not fading; it is intensifying. The wells are not running dry; they are overflowing.

Salvation’s story is the story of momentum in God. And in this journey, the only direction is nearer.
