@WellieNellie Thanks for the comment! Was recognised everywhere at the time but was early 80s and only shown once so surprised if many people remember the actual show! Immortalised on the internet now tho!
Someone was whistling something very fast going past the office today. Without thinking I said out loud ‘Barber’s Adagio for Strings’. My colleagues looked at me in astonishment- after showing them the BBC clip they said ahh he’s still got it! A strange tune to whistle though!!!
@salacata_v@Crofty@SaraLB1988@BBCArchive It seems to have got a particularly big reaction this year as it is a world away from current events and has made a lot of people of smile. Little did I know back then when I was being filmed that it would be shared around the world on the internet nearly 40 years later!
@BehramD@LimerickSage@BBCArchive Well I did perform piano duets with my Father all over the world which I guess you weren’t aware of before making your judgement but thanks for the comments anyway! I was only 3 and it was a memory gift more than a musical one!
@BBCArchive @paddybillington He had a unique very deep singing voice for a 6 year old and it caused a sensation at the time! The BBC made him a custom costume for the performance at the Scarborough Spa. Not sure how your clips are archived but I hope you can find it!
@BBCArchive Hi @BBCArchive thanks for releasing this clip of my Father and I again but you really need to release the clip of my brother @paddybillington as a six year old singing opera with Moira Anderson also on Thats Life in 1987. Filmed around April or May possibly aired later that year!
@janetelfer@Crofty@SaraLB1988@BBCArchive Thanks, we were very lucky to go on Canberra with him many times in the 80s and 90s, back when cruising wasn’t that affordable or mainstream like it is now. We even performed concerts with him in the Meridian Room!
