New team to count Ram Mandir donations in two shifts under SBI supervision. In the wake of the donation theft row, the Ram Temple trust in Ayodhya has deployed a new team for the counting of cash offerings in donation boxes, introducing a two-shift system under the supervision of the State Bank of India (SBI).

According to temple management, a team of 10 to 12 people has been deployed in each shift. The first shift operates from 8 am to 2 pm, while the second runs from 2 pm to 8 pm.

Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah on Saturday chaired an extensive review meeting with tourism stakeholders at Kaziranga National Park to discuss preparations for the upcoming wildlife tourism season and long-term conservation.

Addressing the media, Mallabaruah asked stakeholders to submit their written recommendations within 10 days to finalise the upcoming tourism roadmap. He stressed that the Forest and Tourism departments will work together to ensure balanced development while keeping ecological integrity the foremost priority.

Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah on Saturday chaired an extensive review meeting with tourism stakeholders at Kaziranga National Park to discuss preparations for the upcoming wildlife tourism season and long-term conservation.

Addressing the media, Mallabaruah asked stakeholders to submit their written recommendations within 10 days to finalise the upcoming tourism roadmap. He stressed that the Forest and Tourism departments will work together to ensure balanced development while keeping ecological integrity the foremost priority.

While ruling out year-round tourism in core area due to annual flood cycle, the Minister said department will explore off-season activities to sustain local livelihoods. He also noted that boosting revenue through better hospitality infrastructure would directly fund habitat management.

Cabinet Minister Keshab Mahanta, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and of Forest and District Administration officials were also present.

The Modi government's decision to pay Iran $120 million and subsequently transfer operational interests to an Iranian entity represents a shameful surrender.

The government did not even put up a fight. Instead, it rushed into a decision driven purely by fear of US sanctions. In August 2025, just over a year after signing the deal in 2024, the Modi government completed the full $120 million payment. This amounts to little more than a squandering of taxpayers' money.

By relinquishing operational rights, India has lost not only strategic control over Chabahar but also its broader ambitions for an India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor — a potential counterweight to China's Belt and Road Initiative.

Such actions have damaged India's global image and signal submission to external pressures.

Her name is Isha Singh.

She was a young lawyer who could have taken any high paying job she wanted. Instead she spent her time fighting for people no one else would touch. Then she joined the police, and started doing the same thing in uniform.

She was born in Mumbai in 1998, into a family that had already paid the price for honesty. Her father was a police officer who exposed corruption inside the force and was punished for it with posting after posting, until he finally resigned.

Her mother left a government job to become a lawyer who fought for women and the poor. Isha grew up watching what it costs to refuse to look away.

She studied at one of the finest law schools in the country. When she graduated, the easy path was open, a comfortable career in corporate law. She turned it down.

Instead, she took the cases that do not pay. She fought for the widows of three men who had died cleaning a septic tank by hand, and won each of them compensation the system had never meant to give.

She fought for people jailed on false charges, and won the freedom of a woman locked up on inflated accusations pushed by a powerful official.

Then she decided she could do more from inside the system than outside it. She cleared the civil services examination and became an officer of the Indian Police Service.

In uniform, she has been exactly who she was as a lawyer. She now works in the wing that investigates corruption, where the files that cross her desk carry the names of powerful people.

When a powerful figure recently tried to pressure her at a public event, she refused to his face, in front of everyone.

She is still very early in her career. She has already been moved from her post once. If her family's story is anything to go by, it will not be the last time.

She could have had an easy life. She keeps choosing the hard one, on the side of people who have no one else.

India is fast approaching a financial crisis reminiscent of the one it faced in 1991. Several striking similarities have already emerged. For instance, the US conflict with Iran has triggered instability in the Middle East, leading to oil price shocks, currency pressures, and a sharply higher import bill.

The 1991 crisis was successfully managed largely due to Dr. Subramanian Swamy’s pivotal contributions in two key areas: securing a USD 2 billion loan from the IMF and drafting the economic blueprint for the landmark 1991 reforms. The former provided immediate relief, while the latter laid the foundation for sustained, structured economic growth.

It is clear that the leadership of that era—whether Rajiv Gandhi, Chandra Shekhar, or P.V. Narasimha Rao— knew the importance of Dr. Swamy and effectively leveraged his talents for the country’s benefit.

Today, similar warning signs are visible, suggesting that another crisis may be just around the corner. However, the current leadership appears ill-prepared to tackle these emerging challenges. Instead of bold, long-term reforms, it seems focused on short-cuts and quick-fix solutions.

The BJP leadership, in particular, lacks both the vision and the political skill to build a constructive relationship with India’s most seasoned economist-politician. It suffers from a mental block that hinders its ability to accept fresh ideas or unconventional advice. As a result, the upcoming economic crisis could prove far more severe than necessary.

For India, the best hope lies in Dr. Swamy once again taking centre stage. He may well be the captain the nation needs to steer the economy safely through the gathering storm.
