Reaching orbit on the maiden flight of a new launch vehicle is extraordinarily rare. Even SpaceX, which went on to redefine the global space industry—and continues to inspire us—reached orbit on its fourth attempt.

A powerful reminder of just how hard this is, and why Vikram-1 reaching orbit on its very first flight means so much to all of us.

Despite a zillion ways a rocket can fail- 1000’s of complex systems in Vikram-1 worked like clockwork for the very first time in real flight to make this possible.

More than 95% of people at @SkyrootA never worked on any space mission before and their average age is 28. It’s just Freshness, Passion and Grit that made them the scientists and engineers that launched a rocket to orbit in the very first attempt.

A bow to this incredible team that made it all possible. 🙇🚀

After years of staying mostly silent here, I wanted to share what this moment truly means for us.

Reaching orbit with Vikram-1 is the culmination of an incredibly long and difficult journey. Over the last few years, Team Skyroot pushed relentlessly through missed aggressive deadlines, technical hurdles, and moments when the finish line kept moving. We never lost hope. Not once.

This success feels like redemption for every late night, every difficult choice, and every person who refused to give up on the dream.

The flight has given us a treasure of high-fidelity data. We will use every bit of it to make our vehicle subsystems significantly more robust and to optimize performance across the entire system.

For any launch company, achieving orbit is the single hardest milestone. Productionizing this capability, turning this success into reliable, repeatable flights, is now our central focus.

To every member of Team Skyroot who carried this dream when it was hardest, and to everyone who stood with us through the quiet years: thank you. This is your victory too.

To the entire nation that has celebrated this achievement with so much warmth and pride, thank you! It has meant more to us than words can express.

One of the most meaningful outcomes of Mission Aagaman was the trust our customers and partners placed in us.

Vikram-1’s maiden flight successfully deployed Grahaa Space’s SOLARAS satellite and Skyroot’s own SCOPE technology-demonstration satellite, while carrying in-orbit experiments from Cosmoserve Space and DCUBED.

The mission also carried Cosmos Diamonds’ Cosmic Bloom diamond, along with micro-artist Ajay Kumar’s extraordinary creations—a microscopic 18K gold rocket and intricate micro-sculptures honouring Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Sir C.V. Raman. A tribute to India’s scientific legacy, carried into space alongside the mission.
