@FiredUpCoug I mean I do, but itโa brisket. Like the most garbage cut. Like even corned beef and cabbage takes 10 hours in a crockpot. Which is why March should get brisket.
@EastTNMama Just my two unsolicited two cents, I wouldn't get a pool until they're in lessons or you're working with them to learn. Personally, it would stress me out too much. Even with a cover, it's off occasionally to do stuff, and you have to watch them like a hawk.
@EastTNMama Sorry to be so negative about it! It's just a lot of work and expense. Our major stressor is that our youngests cannot swim (4 and 14mo.) The 4yo is in swimming lessons, but has kind of plateaued. Our 7yo is a fantastic swimmer. Few more years, and perhaps my view will change!
Perhaps a new pool is better. But our 1960's gunnite pool has been nothing but issues. Re-plastered and re-tiled a few years back. Was $17,000, and they screwed stuff up. Which cost additional to fix.
Absent that, the leaves cause issues with everything and gunk up skimmer baskets, and the filtration system. Depending on the leaves/tree (like Crepe Mrytles) they absolutely obliterate your chemicals, because they dump phosphorus. Where I am, our season is about April to October, and even still I don't think it's worth it.
Secondarily things break, and because it's a pool and needs to do well in water, those items are often specialty and expensive.
Also, with little kids, if you don't think you sleep well now, adding a pool will make that worse. We spent $1700 to add a katch-a-kid system to ours, because kids drown in backyard pools way more than you realize.
Anyways, I'm probably being way too harsh, as it's one of those things that takes up a lot of my time that no one really uses. And so I'm totally over it!
I haven't, but I get your point here. However, realistically, I suspect this is related to a grocery store that people do a hundred or more times a year, and not an occasional concert.
My car is AWD and has limited turn radius. But also, I pull through, park in the boonies, because spending any amount of time backing into a parking spot is a waste of my and everyone else's time. I get the same result, and likely I'm in the store before you're even done. We all need more steps anyways.
It's kind of crazy how no one ever talks about $CIEN. A year ago it was a sub $80 stock. It's now $500+. Have owned it for nine years. Basis under $26/shr. What did I miss?! Why is an obscure fiber terminal/hardware company surging?
One of the biggest issues with a lot his advice is it's not transferrable to all situations, especially outliers like this. And folks who presumably have something like 22+ years of college don't understand basic budgeting and call in and take him seriously.
He's not wrong, per se, it's just too generic of advice.
@ListClose@FinancialPhys If there is a buyer willing to pay X, and a willing seller willing to accept X - what exactly is the appraiser doing? I get it mechanically, but that is an arms length market price, that for whatever reason can be ignored because the bank says so? It's very odd.
@iceberge80@Batenswytch I think it's something else. We have a empathy crisis. Where no one can imagine being in someone else's shoes anymore. It's all "me first". It's really disheartening/
@d2fl@ashleyschendel 100% agree. I work in the legal industry, where high incomes are the norm for many, and lifestyle inflation is absolutely the biggest issue many folks face.
@PelicMikepelic@ashleyschendel Iโve always wanted to try garlic. But Iโm way far south and the timing for planting and overwintering. I can never quite figure out. Seemed a little too advanced for me! Hope yours turn out awesome!
@ashleyschendel I'm trying to figure out if they are still growing or not (first time growing onions). They are white sweet onions, so I think I'll sautรฉ them for some sort of protein (likely steak!)
@ashleyschendel Not sure how parking lots are up there, but ours mostly all let you pull through. So I'll drive right into a spot, so that I am facing out when I'm ready to leave. Even still people aren't pulling all the way in or they're backing into spots. It's nuts.
