@JoshAllenStats The play from Cooks ended with him not having the ball anywhere near him. If they would’ve rolled and both still had control. Easy catch to Cooks. But he didn’t have it so no simultaneous catch unlike the play here where both held on.

@Jamie4181 @BuffaloKL @GeneSteratore That’s the subjective part c of the rule. Possession is gained when the player makes a football move or survives the ground, etc. The ball didn’t survive the ground so he never gained possession.

I’m just saying if he would’ve lost control without the DB there it’s an obvious incomplete not a fumble. Bc no possession

Game isn’t played in slow motion. He never had the ball for more than .5 seconds on the ground because he lost possession when he went to the ground.

Best thoughts on the interception. If the ball wouldn’t have been intercepted, and hit the ground, it would’ve been pretty easily incomplete.

Here’s my question on this play:

We have all these rules for what constitutes a catch: Must make a football move, must survive the ground, must take a third step, etc.

In this instance, if the Denver defender didn’t come up with the ball and it ended up the ground instead, it would have pretty clearly been ruled incomplete, not a fumble.

Right?
