Forgive me for still having an Asian Games hangover, but as I start this week, one story from the Games keeps coming back to me.
Sujeet Kalkal was 9-2 down with less than a minute & a half left.
Most of us have an inner voice that does the maths at a moment like this.
I certainly admit to having such a voice.
It assesses the odds and tells us when the rational thing is to accept defeat.
Sujeet clearly has another voice. One that says: Not yet.
He kept going. 9-2 became 10-9. And an Asian Games gold.
The lesson goes well beyond the wrestling mat.
When I look back, I realise that some of my key successes in business came when I listened to my other voice that fought the rational one and simply refused to throw in the towel.
There are times to listen to reason. And there are times to tell it to wait.
It ain’t over till it’s over.

Islamic historiography relies on erasing, distorting, and disclaiming the pre-Islamic past of converted populations. But roots run deep—the story of the Bhuttos is a stark reminder of a thousand-year civilisational amputation.

The supreme irony of history?
In Nov 1947, Shahnawaz Bhutto—the Dewan of Junagadh—had to officially sign the letter of surrender, handing Junagadh over to the Indian Union. His moment of political survival became his ultimate civilisational irony.
Even mainstream hagiographies admit the Bhuttos sprang from Rajput migrants. But history goes deeper: "Bhutto" is a direct corruption of the Sanskrit proper noun Bhurṭṭaka, tracing its roots back to the Chalukyas of Karnata-Desha.
The political royalty of Pakistan—the Bhutto family—actually descends from an ancient Hindu Suryavamsha lineage. Their very name is a corrupted Sanskrit word.
A fascinating look at the pre-Islamic history Pakistan spent decades trying to erase 🧵👇
The introduction of MDR on large-value UPI transactions (i.e., above ₹2,000) is an important step towards strengthening the long-term sustainability of India’s digital payments ecosystem. It will help UPI in continuing to scale, innovate and serve consumers and businesses across the country.
A fair and appropriate distribution of MDR across ecosystem participants will support continued investment in technology, infrastructure and acceptance networks. This, in turn, can enable wider UPI acceptance, deepen the customer base and support sustained growth in transaction volumes.
Importantly, all UPI transactions - P2P and P2M - shall remain free for users. P2M UPI transactions below ₹2,000 will continue to remain free for merchants, while MDR may be levied on merchants for P2M .
RBI remains committed to ensuring that UPI continues to be safe, seamless, affordable, and accessible, while supporting the long-term sustainability and growth of India’s world-class digital payments ecosystem.
