SC upheld the Madras High Court Verdict that Hindu BCs, SC, ST converted to Islam cannot claim BC muslim quota.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁?

Honorable Madras High Court struck down Tamil Nadu Government published G.O. (Ms) No. 31 dated 09.03.2024 allowing Muslim Jamath to assign a new muslim caste to those Hindu BC, MBC, SC, ST converting to Islam.
For example, a Hindu Yadav converted to Islam would be given a new caste "Muslim Rowthar" by the Muslim Jamath and given separate reservation as Muslim BC.

In Tamil Nadu, cutoffs for muslim BCs to get into medical admissions, jobs etc are much lower compared to Hindu BCs.
For instance, a muslim BC can get medical admission with 20,000 rank lower than that of the Hindu BC and also get jobs much more easily than Hindu BCs.
A Hindu convert to muslim or christianity also get the benefit of minority quota in the institutions run by christians and muslims.

Hence, this Tamilnadu government's GO was basically a government sponsored conversion racket.
Tamil Nadu government shamelessly argued in the Supreme Court that numerous people would be affected if the GO is struck down meaning lot of people have already converted from Hinduism to Islam to get the benefit of this reservation jackpot.

Honorable Supreme Court has upheld the Madras High Court Judgement.

Youth For Equality (YFE) intervened in this case with IA 219498/2026 and they also assisted one other Intervenor Mr. Namasivayam IA 227148/2026.
