When Vince Gilligan called him to propose the prequel, Bob panicked about the age difference. His biggest fear was that the production would try to force him to look like a young man, which he clearly no longer was. He told them:
"You know I'm old, right? I'm older than I was in Breaking Bad... Okay, I'll do it, but please DON'T make me act like a twenty-something, because nobody's going to believe it."
Bob didn't want CGI, or weird filters, or to be jumping around like a college student. Vince, with all the calm in the world, replied:
"Everyone will get over it, they won't even notice."
In the end, they gave him a little more hair, more colorful suits, and let Bob's talent do the rest. That’s the magic of good writing and great acting.
