Revolting.
Tom Dundon had his wife and all five of his children engraved on the Stanley Cup. None hold an official role with the Hurricanes, and the youngest is just 7 years old.
Even more unbelievable, they're listed before the players.
The @NHL needs to fix this. The Stanley Cup should honor those who contributed to winning it, not for those who "supported" the team.
I’m seeing some CPC voices on X saying, “Don’t whine about Carney getting a floor-crossing majority or appointing a CPC MP to the Senate. They’re outplaying us. We won’t win by whining.”
You are the Official Opposition.
Your job is not to admire the Liberals’ tactics. Your job is to argue for Canadian citizens. If the governing party appears to be bending the system toward something that looks increasingly like one-party rule, then you lean in and fight it.
You work for voters — not the party brand.
Man up. Lead, fight, or get out of the way.
Two countries split from the same colonial body in 1965. One picked economic freedom. The other picked handouts and racial spoils. You already know how this ended.
Singapore had no oil, no farmland, no hinterland. Just a swamp and a port. Lee Kuan Yew looked at that and trusted trade, low taxes, and hard money. Central planners hate what he did.
Malaysia went the other way. In 1971 Kuala Lumpur launched the New Economic Policy, a state program handing quotas, contracts, and university seats to ethnic Malays. Politicians decided who got what. A commissar fantasy dressed in liberal language.
Now let's look at the numbers. In 1965 both places sat around $500 per capita. Today Singapore clears $84,000. Malaysia sits near $13,000. Same climate, same starting line, one sixth the result.
The Singapore dollar holds its value because the Monetary Authority of Singapore manages it against a currency basket and refuses to print its way out of trouble. The ringgit has lost roughly two thirds of its value against the Singapore dollar since 1981.
You cannot subsidize your way to wealth. You cannot redistribute what you never let people produce. Every ringgit funneled through a quota is a ringgit some bureaucrat spent on his own vision instead of a customer's.
Malaysia bet on planners deciding outcomes. Singapore bet on people deciding for themselves. The gap between $84,000 and $13,000 is your answer.
“With all the things that liberals are willing to spend vast sums of money on, it is a little much to have them become penny-wise when it comes to keeping criminals off the streets.”
— Thomas Sowell
An inconvenient truth is that Palestine was freed. In 2005.
After a free election resulted in Hamas getting power, Israel completely withdrew from Gaza. They even left advanced greenhouses completely set up so the Palestinians could grow their own food.
What did the Palestinians do? They kept trying to destroy Israel. They literally tore their water pipes to fire rockets from. And they tore apart the greenhouses instead of choosing to get food and aid from UNRWA.
Palestinians don’t want peace. They want to kill all the Jews in Israel. Every poll shows this. It’s why they’ve rejected their own state six times.
With all the air-conditioning conversations & debate in Europe - let me share actual data for Canadians & their residential usage of A/C. By the way, this should be TAUGHT in schools.
Teachers - I will come to your school next fall (or next May when it’s warmer!) & do a 20 minute presentation on this - all with a 62 in Grade 10 Physics as the most recent Science course, of any kind, I took.
Canada’s % of yearly global greenhouse gas emissions - 1.5% (highest estimate, some estimates are 1.3 or 1.4%)
Canada’s % of overall energy usage that residential air conditioning in ALL homes & apartments use - between 1.6-2.8%.
Space heating is by far our greatest energy usage at +60%. Water heating is 2nd between 15-20%.
All appliances combine for 15%.
Indoor/outdoor lighting is 4-5%.
THEN….indoor A/C.
Canadians’ residential air conditioning usage accounts for roughly 0.0015% to 0.0025% of yearly global greenhouse gas emissions.
To put that into context, it represents between 1.5 and 2.5 millionths of the world's total carbon footprint.
ONE private jet flight from Ottawa to Vancouver (let’s say, for a World Cup Soccer game…I’m for Carney doing that, by the way!) emits more than 10X the emissions of a 4-bedroom Canadian household's A/C usage for an entire YEAR.
All that to say…..yeah. Share this w/ family & friends. This is NEVER something to feel guilty about.
Yet another example of progressive activism masquerading as journalism.
The study data mentioned in this story is almost four years old. CTV somehow decided that it was newsworthy, and then used it as a foundation for a puff piece in support of supervised consumption sites. Only harm reduction advocates are quoted. High quality studies that reflect poorly on SCSs are conspicuously omitted.
For example: the journalist interviewed *one* user of Alberta’s SCSs to give the false impression that that these spaces are lifesaving — but then omitted a recent study, published just this spring, which found that closing the SCS in Red Deer led to no increase in hospitalizations or deaths.
Calling this article “journalism” would be extremely generous. No wonder public trust in media is declining.
Here’s the scoop- condo developer wants full price for condos but the market dictates a lower price. Instead of being willing to lower his price, the developer is getting bailed out by the Liberal government using YOUR tax dollars.
Now that details have come to light, nobody wants their fingerprints on this $3.2 billion condo bailout boondoggle!
Carney and Premier Eby are pointing fingers at one another instead of giving straight answers.
Canadians deserve to know who came up with this taxpayer-funded bailout. If developers didn’t approach Carney directly, did they approach his office or Housing Minister Gregor Robertson?
Families can’t afford a home, but taxpayers are being told to rescue developers and banks from unsold condos.
That’s not a housing plan, it’s a bailout— and they know it.
Carneys $2.5B condo bailout should enrage everyone.
Tax payers footing the bill into developers pockets who made more money than god for many years. Now their risk fails and tax payers foot the bill.
Shame on you @MarkJCarney
Mark Carney basically announcing a bail out for Vancouver and area developers;
Too many completed condos sitting empty. Metro Vancouver alone around 2,500 finished units are standing vacant with no buyers.
They don't want to sell at a loss, they can't afford to hold those empty units indefinitely.
We will convert vacant condos into affordable housing. We're going to go use the right financing mechanisms, convert those into affordable housing so people can move in and use that."
Greed and horrible municipal planning has led to building overpriced shitboxes that no one wants.
Now Carney will reward that with taxpayer dollars instead of letting the market solve itself by bringing the prices down.
Absurd intervention.
I thought he was an economist??
Granular knowledge of how the Vancouver Condo Kings are the major supporters of people like Gregor Robertson, Justin Trudeau and Mark Carney was my past reporting beat. I’m not going back to it, other reporters need to pick that up. Read JWR’s chapter about meeting Trudeau in his friend’s pent house to understand who Carney is bailing out. I can say the Chinese money behind all these Liberals makes the story so much worse than a Liberal bail out of slick developers. This is scandalous and nationally ruinous.
I would have more trust in Carney if I legitimately thought he was just a cynical weathervane interested only in power. But his constant efforts to control speech and mute opposition speak to far darker motives.
Crazy that the Liberal Party of Canada
stole a majority
and the FIRST thing they did with it
was to create a digital surveillance dragnet involving 3 bills, overseen by a "Digital Safety Commission"
Manitoba takes it one step further. They charge tax on the "gold book" value of the vehicle at the time of sale OR the bill of sale value, whichever I higher. But they do not publish gold book value, and they refuse to tell you if you inquire.
You basically have to enter into a transaction with no way of knowing or calculating the tax burden until after the transaction is complete.
You could be a teen, or single parent, pinching every penny to buy an absolute piece-of-shit broken down rust bucket fixer-upper and you're going to get charged tax on the value of the same year and make of vehicle in immaculate condition.
Your only recourse- get an appraisal. So you have to spend $200 to prove your $1000 beater isn't worth $5000.
It's draconian and entirely anti-taxpayer.
I've always favoured incompetence and stupidity as the more reasonable explanations for this government's actions, but this desperate, Orwellian crusade to regulate the internet 'to save the kids' feels downright sinister.
I always ask the question of the "Carney faithful" & they never, ever have an answer:
"If you wanted to NOT have a trade relationship with the USA because polls showed it benefited you & your Party politically....I mean, what, really, would you do different than Carney has?"
There's never an answer. Yeah, I've despised a lot of the rhetoric & threats & BS from the Trump Administration....but a lot of other countries shrugged their shoulders & just got done to work. Not us.
You don’t have to love Elon Musk to recognize what this headline says about us.
A country that spends more time criticizing wealth creation than encouraging it sends a clear message to builders: your success is tolerated, not celebrated.
Canada should be the best place in the world to build ambitious companies. Headlines like this make us look like we’re not quite ready for that.
CBC's top story on the killing of Toronto Police Const. Marc Pinizzotto is a disgraceful whitewash
A dedicated 43-year-old father and 18-year veteran of the Emergency Task Force was gunned down at 5:40 a.m. today executing a search warrant. He died protecting Canadians from suspects tied directly to the March shooting at the U.S. Consulate — and linked synagogue attacks
Yet CBC's headline framing barely whispers the real story. No mention that U.S. prosecutors tied the consulate attack to an Iran-backed terror network — specifically operatives directed by a senior Kata'ib Hezbollah figure with IRGC ties. This wasn't random GTA violence. It was part of a coordinated campaign of nearly 20 attacks across North America and Europe, retaliation tied to Iran
One suspect, 19-year-old Zara Jabbi (still armed and at large), is wanted for his role in the consulate vehicle and shooting. Another, Nicholas Bennett, opened fire on police and now faces first-degree murder charges
This officer's blood is on the altar of foreign proxy terror operating on Canadian soil — and CBC chose to omit the Iran financing, the terror cell connections, and the broader national security threat. Why? The same outlet that secured rare regime-approved embeds its reporter inside Iran, complete with their restrictions. Their pattern of soft-pedaling Iranian threats while Canadian cops and Jewish communities pay the price is glaring
Enough. A hero is dead because authorities had to raid addresses linked to state-sponsored hits on our allies' consulate and our synagogues. Canadians deserve the unfiltered truth — not sanitized headlines that shield foreign aggressors and erode public trust
Const. Marc Pinizzotto's sacrifice demands accountability, not omissions. Catching the remaining suspect. Securing our streets from imported terror. And demand better from the CBC
May Const. Marc Pinizzotto rest in peace
Appeasement was never the answer, and antagonism was a disaster.
There WAS a path to working with Trump and none of it involved sniveling or childish name-calling;
but Canada's national narcissism, our oversized haughty ego, fueled by a needless fear-mongering and a deranged media brought us here.
