let's talk a bit about how @ycombinator companies work.

- YC invests ~500k checks into N companies (lot of them building cool software)
- each of those companies are building cool things
- each of those companies need software, and there is extremely likelihood that a YC company (even within the cohort) utilizes the tech in there
- they all invest in each other
- YC as a platform grows
- they all make money off each other
- the biggest ones branch out, and they carry the other companies with them due to software / hardware / etc deals & listings.
- IE: maybe there is a new database tech being built, and it happens that 3 companies in YC need new database tech. they all buy database tech from that company.
- let's say 1 out of those 3 make it out and make hundreds of millions a year.
- database tech company now has a (likely) 8 figure parnership with the 1 company that made it out.
