This surprised me. I always believed that @yadavakhilesh did brilliantly on infrastructure and social welfare schemes.

But I thought Yogi’s government would have certainly done better than AY on industrial growth.

However, this 2023 Print report not only says that AY performed better here, but that he did so by a huge margin.

The report says:

• UP’s average real GSDP growth under Akhilesh was around 6.9%

• Under Yogi’s first term, it averaged around 3.2%

• Manufacturing growth was reportedly significantly stronger during the later years of the Samajwadi Party government

• Construction and services sectors also showed relatively better growth during Akhilesh’s period

However, Yogi faced challenges like demonetisation and Covid during the analysed period. But the same Yogi government calls demonetisation a masterstroke and presents Covid management as one of Modi’s biggest achievements.
