Just got off a call with my father he picked the call in one ring. He just informed me that @IndiGo6E 6E 7312 from Rajahmundry to Hyderabad today was reportedly flown by a captain who openly announced to passengers that he had been called in on his day off to operate the flight.

And I’m sorry, but in what universe is that supposed to reassure people?

Commercial aviation is not a corporate office where someone “logs in quickly to help out.” Fatigue regulations exist because aviation safety has historically been written in blood, not motivational LinkedIn posts about teamwork.

So the public deserves answers from IndiGo:

• How many hours had the pilot rested before this flight?
• What were his cumulative flying hours this week?
• Was fatigue risk formally assessed?
• Why was a pilot being rostered from an off day in the first place?

Passengers are not parcels moving through a logistics network. “Available” and “fit to fly” are two very different things.

People should board a flight wondering whether they’ll get the window seat, not whether crew exhaustion has quietly become operational policy.
